Below, Bradley Stalder breaks down premium fantasy flex plays for fantasy Week 4.

Breakout performances from Cole Kmet and Dallas Goedert breathed life into the mid-TE landscape. Both Brian Robinson and Bijan Robinson put up similar stat lines. Andy Dalton and Derrick Henry showed off their “old man strength.” These and more highlighted the top players from Week 3.  In this weekly flex plays article, we identify three players outside the top 50 projected FLEX starters who will “win” the FLEX. How do we define “winning” the FLEX position? If a player earns at least 12.5 points in half-point PPR scoring, that’s a “win.”

Anything less than that will be a loss. One player outside the top 100 in projected points for the week is my long-shot, double-or-nothing score. Throughout the season, I’ll offer both players I think will “win” the FLEX each week and update how I did last week as accountability.

Week 3 Record: 0-3

Running Records 4-5 , 44-percent

Rome Odunze | WR, Chicago Bears

Rome Odunze is rostered on 93-percent of teams and projected to start on 54-percent of them. Odunze projects as the 58th-highest FLEX player for Week 4. With Keenan Allen OUT in Week 3, Odunze earned 11 targets, turning them into six receptions and a TD against the Indianapolis Colts. Odunze, the 9th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had started the season slow before the Week 3 breakout. The rookie already ranks in the top 12 among Wide receivers in Yards Per Reception and is top-26 in targets earned. Odunze is tracking as a WR2 play.

The Chicago Bears host the LA Rams, and are 2.5-point favorites. The Rams secondary just allowed Jauan Jennings to catch 11 passes for 175 yards and three TDs. Brandon Aiyuk was held to a modest 5-48 on 10 targets, but left a lot more fantasy points on the table. Without clarity regarding Keenan Allen‘s availability for Week 4, Odunze will look to build on his breakout week and live up to his PlayerProfiler player comp: Justin Jefferson.

Chuba Hubbard | RB, Carolina Panthers

Chuba Hubbard is rostered on 70-percent of teams, but only projected to start on 17-percent. Hubbard projects as the 62nd-highest FLEX player for Week 4.  Hubbard earned 26 touches in Week 3’s victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. It was clear the Panthers’ offense was hot and dangerous with the Red Rifle under center. In fact, the Panthers rank No. 4 overall in PFF’s Pass Block Grades on the season. The Panthers will be in scoring position more often, leading to Red zone opportunities for Hubbard.

The Panthers host the Cincinnati Bengals, with a game total of 48 points– the second highest projected game total of Week 4. Hubbard has earned five targets out of the backfield each of the last two weeks. With Jonathon Brooks still on IR, Hubbard is a smash play against the Cincinnati Bengals who just allowed a combined 23 fantasy points to Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson. Hubbard earned 75-percent of Panthers’ backfield touches. Volume will lead Hubbard to the promised land.

Devin Singletary | RB, NY Giants

REMINDER: Devin Singletary plays on TNF– move him out of your FLEX and into your Starting RB spot.

Singletary is rostered on 87-percent of teams, and projected to start on 34-percent of them. Singletary projects as the 59th-highest FLEX player for Week 4. The volume is undeniable – Singletary has handled 14 or more touches each game, and has increased his role each week. He ranks No. 5 among RBs in Opportunity Share and No. 6 in Snap Share. But it’s not just volume, Singletary is also making plays as a rusher. He ranks No. 2 in Missed Tackles Forced, No. 3 in Yards After Contact Per Attempt, and No.5 in Juke Rate this season.

The Giants host the Dallas Cowboys, who have been reeling from recent bad losses. The Cowboys are considered road favorites, however. They have given up an average line of 19-103-1.7 to the opponent’s lead RB on the season– good for over 20 fantasy points. Even in one of the worst game scripts for running backs so far this season, Singletary has delivered over 12.5 fantasy points in two of three games.

Deep Cut: Cordarrelle Patterson | RB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Cordarrelle Patterson is rostered on 2-percent of teams and projected to start on 1-percent. Patterson projects as the 203rd-highest FLEX player for Week 4. The calculus is simple for Patterson: Najee Harris was seen in a sling on Monday, and Jaylen Warren re-aggravated a soft tissue injury from earlier this offseason. This leaves Patterson next in line for major touches. In fact, we started to see Patterson earn more in Week 3 with Warren hampered. Patterson earned a respectable 13-percent Target Share on 34-percent of snaps. He also averaged over eight yards per carry against a tough Chargers defense.

Now, the Steelers face Indianapolis on the road. On average, the Colts have given up 25-110-0.3 on the ground to their opponent’s lead RB, for an average of 13 fantasy points per game. Word is that Harris is trending toward playing despite the early-week sling, but Patterson has shown boom games even past 30 years of age. He has 13 games over the last three seasons with more than 12.5 fantasy points.
