Arizona Cardinals have released veteran and presumed starter Colt McCoy, according to Adam Schefter.
In a shocking development, the Cardinals have released long time back-up and short term starting QB Colt McCoy. This leaves the quarterback room with just Clayton Tune and Joshua Dobbs, with Kyler Murray remaining on the PUP list. There is no doubt that Arizona is indeed trying to improve their draft position by turning to rookie Clayton Tune as their presumed starter.
This is a downgrade for all of the Arizona Cardinals receivers, with relatively unknown Clayton Tune, or Josh Dobbs, stepping under center. Starting the season @ Washington, Giants, Dallas, @ 49ers, an 0-4 start seems likely, and a return for Kyler Murray, less and less likely. Look to them to lean on the run game, with vet James Conner looking to get all of the major touches to help this moribund offense.
As for McCoy, while doing a bit of a side hustle with Underdog Fantasy, he could still be picked up as a backup somewhere that is in desperate need of QB depth.
