Joe Mixon MRI Leaves Texans Backfield Murky for Week 3
2 months ago

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s game. The results of the MRI will determine Fantasy managers’ next steps.

Joe Mixon’s ankle came back clean from the MRI, but is questionable for Week 3. Fantasy managers would be sharp to pick up Cam Akers in case Mixon is not good to go Week 3.

The troubling part for this Texans backfield is that Dameon Pierce, second on the depth chart, missed week 2’s game With an injury himself, leaving Cam Akers as the next man up.

Akers himself has dealt with numerous injuries over the course of his career. Dare Ogunbowale is also on the Houston Texans roster and might get an increase in touches. However, Akers projects as the most likely candidate to handle early down & distance scenarios.

This is a murky situation, but Akers’ range of outcomes includes a volume RB2 fantasy output on a good Texans offense.

RB Dare Ogunbowale Re-signs with the Houston Texans
7 months ago

Special teams ace Dare Ogunbowale re-ups with the Texans on a one year deal.

Journey man running back Dare Ogunbowale has played for 4 teams in his 7-year career after being undrafted out of Wisconsin in 2017.  Dare has made a career as a core special teams player. Ogunbowale re-signs with the Texans on a 1-year deal. He plays on all forms of special teams and is famous for kicking a 29-yard field goal last season for the Texans. The former badger may be even more key to the new kick-off rules, including booting the kicks himself.

Dare Ogunbowale is returning to the Texans for the third straight season. He rarely plays on the field unless there are injuries and or the games are out of hand, good or bad. Dare is only worth a stash in the deepest of leagues who have fellow back Joe Mixon on their rosters. Look for Ogunbowale to stick to special teams again, as this team is now loaded with talented options for the season.
