New Orleans Saints Taysom Hill is out but running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed are good to go.
Jack of all trades Taysom Hill is going to miss back-to-back weeks due to rib injury. This will also be the third game he has missed this season. This is major blow to the Saints in which they are starting Spencer Rattler this week due to Derek Carr being out as well. Hill could have been used in a wildcat formation or even on trick play too.
The Saints will however have starting running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed. They got taken off of the injury report on Friday. Look for the Saints to lean heavily on Kamara this week as they have rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler starting. Kamara is a must start this week since he will be used as a workhorse. Shaheed can be a streamer this week if needing someone to fill in due to injuries or byes.

Drafters can expect Taysom Hill to be used in a variety of ways not seen prior to 2024.
Saints head coach Dennis Allen recently told reporters that Taysom Hill will “do a lot of stuff” in 2024. This aligns with everything we’ve been hearing during the offseason.
On various best ball platforms, Taysom Hill is listed as a tight end. Taysom Hill provides a distinct advantage as a cheat code in settings where he can be placed in the tight end roster spot. It is particularly interesting and to be noted that Dennis Allen has a pattern of publicly criticizing his players and lamenting improvements needed. Dennis Allen promoting Taysom Hill is notable.
Taysom Hill is listed as a tight end on Drafters and Drafkings while the FFPC awaits and needs an official depth chart. For redraft, keep an eye out on Sleeper where Taysom Hill has quarterback and tight end eligibility. Of note, UnderDog lists Hill solely as a quarterback, making him more viable for superflex contests.
In what could be a Michael Lewis story on salary cap management, the Saints free up much needed cap room by converting Taysom Hill’s 2024 salary into a signing bonus.
The Saints have restructured Taysom Hill’s contract in order to free up $6.5 million of cap space. The Saints did so by converting $8.79 million of Taysom Hill’s 2024 salary towards a signing bonus.
The maneuvering and manipulation of the salary cap by the New Orleans Saints can either be deemed highly impressive or fiscally irresponsible. The Saints have always wanted to keep their window of competing wide open. The moves to stay compliant within the salary cap structure have always been curious to say the least. There will be a day of reckoning when the Saints won’t be able to keep up with kicking the can down the road and they have to fully rebuild, but their moves this offseason indicate they are not close to giving into a reset.
Given the recent news of running back Alvin Kamara being dissatisfied with his current contract, this move may signal some work towards making things well with their star player. At the very least, the $6.5 million of cap space is a step in the right direction for a Saints front office that continues to wriggle through choppy salary cap waters.
Taysom Hill is once again being deployed as a tight end in Saints organized team activities.
It is post Memorial Day Weekend and the fantasy football universe is getting some distinctive news regarding Saints weapon Taysom Hill. Jeff Nowak on X reports that Taysom Hill has been working with the tight ends during Saints organized team activities.
Last year was a fiasco and sore subject amongst fantasy gamers as Taysom Hill’s positional status changed on some platforms late in the drafting season. Currently, Taysom Hill is listed as a tight end on Drafters and Draftkings while the FFPC awaits and needs an official depth chart. UnderDog will likely remain unchanged. The key area and focus for fantasy gamers will be in hoping there is consistency across the drafting season and each respective platform.
The benefit to having Taysom Hill eligible to be listed as a tight end is that he is deployed in all offensive positions allowing him to serve as a legal cheat code when listed on fantasy platforms as a tight end. Being that tight end is the weakest area of output for fantasy football points, Hill being listed as a tight end will create a rejuvenation in both strategy and further filling out a position seeing the beginnings of a rebirth. You should be clicking Taysom Hill’s name late and often on platforms where he is listed as a tight end.
Derek Carr and Chris Olave Questionable for Week 14; Expected to Play
Derek Carr has cleared concussion protocol and, to the disappointment of fantasy owners, is expected to be on the field in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers. Despite being limited earlier in the week, Carr became a full participant in Friday’s practice, dealing with a concussion, right shoulder, and rib injuries. While officially questionable for Sunday, all signs point to his active participation. Chris Olave, who missed practice due to illness, is also anticipated to play. Taysom Hill, nursing foot and left-hand injuries, is listed as questionable after missing practice.
The New Orleans Saints, facing a three-game losing streak, contemplate a shift to Jameis Winston for a much-needed spark. Winston and Carr bring distinct playing styles to the table; Winston, akin to a sports car, is known for his aggressive, strong-arm, shot-taking approach, in contrast to Carr’s reliable Sedan style, favoring shorter high-percentage passes. Despite fantasy owners yearning for Winston’s high-energy plays, it seems they’ll have to temporarily park that experience in the garage.
Taysom Hill is listed as a QB in the latest Saints Depth Chart
Taysom Hill is listed as a QB in the latest Saints Depth Chart. After being listed as a TE all-training camp, the Saints’ week one depth chart shows Hill as QB3. He is listed behind starter Derek Carr, and backup Jameis Winston. This change is an interesting one heading into the Saints’ week one match-up with the Tennessee Titans.
The move from TE to QB could mean more reps for Hill under center. Last year, Taysom Hill had 96 rushes for 575 yards and 5 touchdowns. He may steal some goal-line work from Jamaal Williams. Hill entered the league as a QB and played last year as a TE, so we may see him used in multiple ways on Sunday.
