Former Minnesota Viking pass rusher Danielle Hunter is taking his talents to the Houston Texans.
Danielle Hunter’s name doesn’t regularly come up when discussing the top defensive players in the NFL. The vastly underrated pass rusher has hit double digit sacks in 5 of his 8 seasons in Minnesota earning 4 Pro Bowl nods. Hunter had the fifth best 16.5 sacks last season. Hunter has cashed in on the business side also earning a total of $94.8 million before agreeing to a 2-year, $48 million contract, with $29.5 million in year 1.
Teaming Hunter up with Will Anderson Jr. is going to rain hellfire on opposing offenses. The Texans are going all out this offseason to maximize quarterback CJ Stroud’s cheap rookie contract. Houston has resigned tight end Dalton Schultz, traded for running back Joe Mixon, and signing linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair and Hunter. Houston has become the top destination for players due to Stroud’s play and head coach Demeco Ryans. Look for the Houston Texans to be a Super Bowl contender come the 2024 NFL season.
Danielle Hunter’s addition to the Texans is an all around positive. The offense will be put in advantageous positions if the defense plays to their potential. In turn the offense doing well, leaves the defense in position to pin their ears back and rush the opposing QB trying to comeback from behind.
