The Kansas City Chiefs sign All-Pro DT Chris Jones to an historic 5 year deal worth $95 million in guaranteed money. Jones becomes the highest paid defensive player in NFL history with this contract. Earlier this week the Chiefs franchise tagged CB L’Jarius Sneed and also re-signed LB Drue Tranquill, shoring up 3 major defensive contributors on this formidable Chiefs defense. 

Jones has been the cornerstone of this Chiefs defense since they drafted the former Mississippi State defensive tackle in the second round in the 2016 NFL Draft. Jones, who turns 30 in July has 273 tackles, 75.5 sacks, and 37 pass deflections in 123 career regular-season games with the Chiefs. Jones has  5 straight Pro-Bowls and was voted All-Pro for the second consecutive season. The Chiefs are keeping this defensive core together and are looking strong at making a push at the coveted 3-peat.
