Las Vegas is set to release fan-favorite WR Hunter Renfrow to free up cap space.
Roster turnover can be hard on a fan base. Raider Nation has felt that as much as anyone in recent years. Beginning with Khalil Mack’s trade to Chicago, the Raiders have also scuttled Derek Carr and Darren Waller, let Josh Jacobs move on, and are set to lose WR Hunter Renfrow. There are now just five players rostered in Las Vegas that played for the old Oakland Raiders.
Dubbed “3rd and Renfrow” because of his propensity to make clutch catches, Renfrow built a reputation as a premier route-runner and created a productive connection with QB Carr on his way to a WR11 finish as a “3rd-year-breakout” in 2021. An injury in 2022 and a, reportedly, sour relationship with former HC Josh McDaniels have left Renfrow outside of fantasy relevance.
Renfrow will now look to find the ideal situation with a previous 100-catch/1000-yard season under his belt. The ideal landing spots for the former 5th round National Champion from Clemson would include a reunion in New Orleans with Carr or a friendly deal with Kansas City to pair with Patrick Mahomes.
