Panthers Face Off Against Giants in Germany

Bryce Young gets third straight start coming off win vs. Saints

Dave Canales named Bryce Young starter for the Panthers’ Week 10 tilt versus the Giants in Germany. Young engineered a game-winning touchdown drive against the Saints in Week 9, but completed just 16 passes for 171 yards and one TD. Ja’Tavion Sanders led the team in receiving with four catches for 87 yards. Xavier Legette had the lone touchdown, leading the team with six targets and catching four of them for 33 yards. It’s a low-ceiling passing offense in Carolina, Legette being the lone touchdown threat. The Giants have a bottom-third pass defense, but the Panthers-Giants matchup has a low 40.5 game total, the Panthers a 17-point implied total.

Jonathon Brooks has been activated from IR and looks to take the field in Week 10. He will ramp up slowly, however, spelling Chuba Hubbard along with Miles Sanders. Hubbard has been the bell cow in Carolina, average 14.8 carries and 3.2 targets per game. He is No. 11 with 773 total yards among running backs on the season. The Giants’ defense is also bottom-third against the run. With the muted game environment, Hubbard is a high-end RB3.

Chuba Hubbard Signs Extension to Stay in Carolina
2 weeks ago

Panthers sign fourth-year back to four-year, $33M deal

With rookie running back Jonathon Brooks set to see his first game action in the coming weeks, the Panthers have signed Chuba Hubbard to a four-year, $33 million contract extension. Hubbard has been the Panthers’ lead back during the 2024 season, handling 71.1-percent of the Opportunity Share and playing ahead of fellow veteran Miles Sanders.

Hubbard has made good on the opportunities granted. He currently has the fifth-most rush yards (665) in the league and six total touchdowns (No. 11). Sanders’ contract goes through 2026, but with Hubbard clearly outperforming him and second round draft pick Brooks getting on the field, the team will look to Hubbard and Brooks to share the bulk of the touches for the remainder of the 2024 season and beyond.

Panthers Deny Bryce Young Trade Rumors, Double Down on Andy Dalton
1 month ago

Dave Canales sticking with veteran QB, no intent to trade Young

Amid what is shaping up to be a lost season, several Panthers players are rumored to be trade candidates, including second-year QB Bryce Young. Other Panthers players rumored to be trade targets are Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen, Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders. The NFL’s trade deadline is just two weeks away – November 5th.

Dalton’s Week 7 was about as bad as it gets with the 14-year vet throwing just 11 completions for 93 yards and two interceptions, including one the Commanders returned for a TD.  Bryce Young wasn’t much better in his starts, throwing for a combined 245 yards and three picks in two games this season. Canales benched Young earlier this season, opting for Dalton. Dalton got off to a hot start, but has taken steps back the last few weeks.

Young himself denied trade rumors, stating he is “grateful to be part of the Panthers.” For now, Canales said he is sticking with Dalton. But the Panthers head coach, who has been successful reviving the careers of Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield, will likely give Young another shot if Dalton continues to struggle under center. The team would be selling low on their former No. 1 pick if they chose to trade Young now, and they owe it to themselves to give Young every shot to develop.

Jonathon Brooks Out Week 7

Panthers Second Round Pick Not Ready for Game Action

Carolina Panthers rookie running back Jonathon Brooks has been ruled out for the team’s Week 7 tilt with the Commanders. The Panthers opened the practice window for the second round pick on Wednesday, but are not ready to elevate him to active status. The former Texas Longhorn tore his ACL in November of last season, and the Panthers are being cautious getting him into game action.

The Panthers have a 1-5 record heading into their matchup with Washington and Chuba Hubbard has been more than serviceable as the team’s RB1 this season. Hubbard is RB12 in Opportunity Share (69.2-percent) and RB4 with 89.3 Weighted Opportunities through six weeks, playing ahead of Miles Sanders. When Brooks makes his debut, it is likely he will still have a ramp up period, sharing the backfield with two veterans. The organization will also want to preserve Brooks – their running back of the future – especially in what is shaping up to be a lost season.

Jonathon Brooks Expected to Miss the Entire Preseason
3 months ago

With the rookie running back still in recovery, pivot to drafting Chuba Hubbard for early season upside.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales has come out and stated that rookie running back Jonathon Brooks will not play at all during the preseason. Canales said that the ideal timeframe for Brooks to begin his rookie campaign will be around week 3 or 4 of the NFL season.

While the expectation has been that Brooks will have extra time to onboard before being 100% healthy, this latest news gives a more definitive timeline for his return. While clarity is still needed and no exact time for return has been set, this reinforces the need to be drafting Chuba Hubbard as much as possible. Hubbard is currently going in the 14th round on UnderDog.

The manner in which fantasy gamers attack the Panthers running back room will have changes for every Jonathon Brooks health update. The evergreen play up to this point is to select both Brooks and Hubbard in drafts whether together or on separate teams.  Chuba Hubbard will provide early season advance rate points whereas Jonathon Brooks will be a lethal weapon for a mid to late season surge in larger best ball tournaments.

Take advantage of a Jonathon Brooks drop in ADP from round 8 while clicking Chuba Hubbard at his rising ADP. Although it may seem unpalatable, incorporate a small percentage of clicks for Miles Sanders in round 18 of UnderDog drafts.

Chuba Miles Ahead of Sanders; Hubbard to Start for Panthers

Chuba Hubbard Named Starter Week 9 Against the Colts

Chuba Hubbard Named Starter Week 9 Against the Indianapolis Colts. In Friday’s press conference, Head Coach Frank Reich, confirmed that Chuba Hubbard will remain the starter at running back. Hubbard has been the starter for the last three weeks while Miles Sanders was dealing with a shoulder injury. Sanders was brought in this offseason to be the every down back for the Panthers when he signed a four-year $25.4 million dollar deal.

Hubbard has had a solid start to the 2023 campaign. He has 69 attempts for 270 yards and a touchdown along with 15 receptions for 85 yards. Sanders has been one of the team’s biggest disappointments thus far. He has 63 attempts for 190 yards and a touchdown along with 15 catches for 81 yards.

The Panthers are coming off their first win of the season vs the Houston Texans. This week they look to continue the win streak against the Colts who rank 27th against the running back. Fire up your Chuba shares.
