D’Andre Swift hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was a decorated high school athlete at St. Joseph's Prep. As a high school senior, he rushed for 1,564 yards and 25 touchdowns, and went on to post impressive college stats despite playing alongside both Sony Michel and Nick Chubb at the University of Georgia.
In just three years as a Bulldog, Swift accumulated 2,885 yards on the ground and 666 yards receiving while commanding an 8.7-percent (70th-percentile) College Target Share and 25 total touchdowns. Swift flashed explosiveness at the 2020 NFL Combine with a 4.48 40-time and became the fifth Georgia running back drafted into the NFL since 2015.
Swift had high expectations placed on him after being drafted in the second round with the 35th pick. In his rookie year, he finished top-15 in many categories while playing in only 13 games. He was a difference maker in the passing game too, commanding 57 targets on just 211 routes, and hauling in 46 receptions for 357 yards. His snaps rose the following year, but efficiency waned, as evidenced by a declining Yards Per Touch and other Next Gen Stats. He was victim of below average run blocking by an offensive line in transition though.
Working back from an ankle sprain at the beginning of the 2022 season, Swift saw 18 touches for 175 yards in Week 1 but didn’t see more than 10 touches again until Week 13. Detroit preferred to keep Swift in a part-time role, as he saw just a 36.9-percent (No. 51) Opportunity Share. He finished the season with just 99 carries and 48 receptions in 14 games.
After the Lions drafted Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round of the 2023 Draft, Swift was dealt to the Philadelphia Eagles. Swift achieved immediate success in 2023, but that production began to fade down the stretch. The offense also struggled as a whole the latter part of the year and Swift only recorded one top 25 fantasy finish in his final six outings.
His stint with the Eagles was to be short lived though, as Swift signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Bears in 2024. Swift will pair with Roschon Johnson to form one of the better backfields in the NFL. While Johnson is popular fantasy sleeper among many, Swift is going to lead the way in 2024.
