Chase Claypool Lands on Injured Reserve

The Buffalo Bills have placed wide receiver Chase Claypool on season-ending Injured Reserve (IR).

Chase Claypool has missed most of training camp since suffering a toe injury on July 28th. The injury was initially labeled as a day-to-day by Bills head coach Sean McDermott but seems to be worse than anticipated. Unless he is designated to return from IR by the August 27th cutdown day, Claypool and the Bills could reach an injury settlement that will allow him to sign with another team.

After his rookie season with the Steelers, many experts thought that Claypool was going to have a promising career, but unfortunately, that has not been the case. The veteran’s free fall from grace has been surprising. The Bills were Claypool’s fourth team in three seasons. Dynasty managers, should follow the Bills’ footsteps and drop Claypool in all league formats.

Chase Claypool Signs With Buffalo

The Buffalo Bills signed wide receiver Chase Claypool to a one-year deal.

The Bills continue to add bodies as try to fill the void left by Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. After drafting Keon Coleman last week in the second round of the NFL Draft, the Bills decided to sign 6-foot-four 238-pound Chase Claypool to add some extra competition to the receiving room. This is the veteran’s four team in five seasons.

Claypool showed plenty of potential in his first two seasons with the Steelers when he totaled 121 receptions for 1,733 yards and 11 touchdowns. Over the last four seasons he’s played in just 27 games and has only mustered up 44 receptions, 528 yards, and two touchdowns.

With the Bills, Claypool gets a fresh start and hopes to tap into that potential he illustrated in his first two seasons. If you have him in dynasty maybe you can sell high but more than likely you will have to hold for now. In start-ups you should be able take a flier on him in the later rounds.

Chase Claypool traded to the Miami Dophins
1 year ago

The Chicago Bears have traded Chase Claypool and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick to the Miami Dolphins for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

The Chase Claypool unspectacular era came to an abrupt end when the Bears sent the veteran receiver packing to Miami. Since arriving to Chicago in the middle of last season, Claypool has failed to provide a spark to the Bears offense. After 10 games the Bears had seen enough and found a way to deal the speedster out of town. During that span, Claypool was only able to muster up 18 receptions for 191 yards and a touchdown. His departure will D.J. Moore and Darnell Mooney a few more targets going forward.

With the arrival of Claypool to Miami, head coach Mike McDaniel has a new toy for this potent offense. At 6′-4″ and 238 lbs Claypool blazed the 40-yard dash with a 4.42 time prior to the 2020 NFL Draft. With Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert, and De’Von Achane already on the roster, this team just got even faster, which is hard to believe. Claypool will be at the bottom of the totem will all these players already on offense. If anyone can unlock Claypool’s potential it is coach McDaniel. For now, Claypool is merely a stash in deeper 14-team leagues and dynasty leagues to see how he gradually gets integrated into the offense.
