Miami’s top running back will hope to recover in time for the Dolphins’ Week 7 matchup against the Colts.
After being down on the field for several minutes following a hit from New England Patriots safety Jaylinn Hawkins, Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane was later ruled out with a concussion. Following the on-field incident, Achane was initially taken to the blue medical tent before being escorted by trainers to the locker room — where he remained for the duration of the game. While the immediacy of the diagnosis signals the likely severity of the concussion, Miami’s Week 6 bye gives Achane ample time to get ready for the Dolphins’ next game in two weeks.
Going into Week 5, Achane had established himself as one of the top running backs in fantasy football despite the absence of Tua Tagovailoa. If the second-year running back misses significant time, expect Raheem Mostert — who just returned from an injury of his own — to lead the Miami backfield. Rookie Jaylen Wright out of Tennessee also showed flashes on Sunday and figures to split carries with Mostert to some extent. Both players can be considered fringe FLEX options for the time being, as Miami’s offense continues to be extremely limited without Tagovailoa.

The running back position is taking on early importance in fantasy football as De’Von Achane and James Cook light up Thursday Night Football.
James Cook and De’Von Achane rewarded fantasy gamers greatly on Thursday Night Football. James Cook particularly shined in half and full PPR leagues whereas De’Von Achane provided a ceiling week in PPR leagues.
Achane and Cook traded fantasy production while other elements of a Bills-Dolphins shootout were largely absent. Achane had 96 rushing yards on 22 attempts adding 7 receptions for a very nice 69 yards. He also found the endzone on a 5-yard reception.
The Bills offense ran through James Cook who had 3 total touchdowns with 2 on the ground and 1 in the receiving game. Cook took his lone catch for 17 yards to the house and his other 2 touchdowns came on the ground where he totalled 78 yards rushing.
In week 3, James Cook will look to maintain his healthy production on Monday Night Football at home versus the Jacksonville Jaguars while De’Von Achane will travel up to Seattle to square off on a Sunday afternoon game against the Seahawks.
Drafters are once again ready to be hurt again and are buying into Jerry Jeudy as a 5th year breakout.
Jerry Jeudy has risen 4 spots in ADP on UnderDog since July 9th. The new Cleveland Browns wide receiver is being drafted at the 10-11 turn. Heading into his 5th year on his second team, Jeudy did well this offseason in getting a 3-year $52 million contract in free agency.
With Amari Cooper wanting a new contract and the uncertainty that hangs over the Browns organization since Deshaun Watson signed, drafters are once again telling themselves a story to how Jeudy can pay off at WR-61 pricing on UnderDog. Jeudy is also an excellent selection for drafters looking to correlate the week 17 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. With steep investments of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De’Von Achane, having Jerry Jeudy to click at the 10-11 turn is palatable and alluring.
Overall, continue to click Jerry Jeudy where he goes as failure at the current price point won’t sink your teams with the upside well worth adding him to your best ball squads. Expect things to smooth over between Amari Cooper and the Browns which will keep Jerry Jeudy’s price in check.
Head coach Mike McDaniel confirms that De’Von Achane will play in Week 13 against the Commanders.
After missing last week with knee soreness, fantasy managers will be getting De’Von Achane back this week. Achane came off IR to face the Raiders in Week 11 after the Dolphins concluded their bye, and the talented rookie only handled a couple of touches before exiting the contest with a knee injury. The Dolphins held him out of last week’s game with the Jets so that he could be 100% for game action.
With Achane having the green light to get back on the field, the question becomes how many touches he will receive in the contest. Most fantasy managers will not have a choice this week with so many teams on bye. Achane has already proven that he is a gamer when healthy, and both he and the Dolphins feel confident that he will be a full go on Sunday. Achane at the very least is a great flex play this week, since he will be splitting touches with Raheem Mostert. So get him your lineups and say a prayer for him.
Rookie De’Von Achane is expected to miss the Dolphins’ Week 1 contest versus the Chargers.
The highly anticipated debut of De’Von Achane will be put on ice as it appears that he will miss the Week 1 contest against the Los Angeles Chargers. Achane was drafted in the third round out of Texas A&M but unfortunately has been dealing with a shoulder injury since injuring it during the Dolphins’ preseason game versus the Texans. The rookie was looking like an excellent sleeper for Week 1, especially after Jeff Wilson landed on the IR early this week, but now managers have to wait to see if he can be ready for Week 2.
With Achane inactive, look for Raheem Mostert to handle the majority of the touches and be a possible RB2 for fantasy managers for Week 1. Mostert should be inserted into line-ups as either an RB2 or Flex play this week. In deeper PPR leagues Salvon Ahmed could be picked up as a really deep Flex option. In dynasty leagues, also consider adding Chris Brooks since he will be active today and could surprise many fantasy managers and garner some touches as well.
The Miami Dolphins placed running back Jeff Wilson Jr. on the injured reserve list.
Miami’s projected starting RB Jeff Wilson Jr. will begin the season on the IR, missing at least four weeks. In his most recent statement head coach Mike McDaniel described it as a “midsection injury compounded by some finger issues.” Wilson Jr. was productive for Miami in 2022, putting up back-to-back top-10 RB finishes immediately after being traded from San Francisco on his way to an (84/393/3; 12/94/1) finish.
The news sent immediate shockwaves throughout draft rooms and site ranks everywhere. Fantasy gamers presumed Wilson Jr. would begin the year with a prominent backfield role for a prolific offense, making him a very intriguing late-round pick. The severity of the injury is yet to be determined but the outlook is grim. When questioned when Wilson might suit up, McDaniel said “I wouldn’t be surprised if he would make a return this season. We will let his body tell us.” So it’s wheels up for Raheem Mostert and rookie De’von Achane, who we were told will be practicing before Week 1. Expect ADPs for the remaining healthy Dolphin RBs to rise as we approach kickoff.
