The Titans Coaching Staff isn’t willing to commit to Chig Okonkwo dominating the TE room.
Prior to the open of training camp for the Titans, TE Josh Whyle had earned recognition and impressed his head coach and team reporter Jim Wyatt with his offseason work. At the time, it appeared that Chig Okonkwo was still firmly in the lead as the starter. Now with training camp opening the coaching staffs appears willing to give Josh Whyle an opportunity to carve out a role for himself in the offense. The bigger takeaway here may be the Titans lack of endorsement of Chig.
Josh Whyle possesses the size and catch radius to be an immediate redzone threat for 2nd year QB Will Levis. Brian Callahan has pretty much declared open competition and remained mysterious when it comes to usage outside of a few positions. That being said, Whyle is a must add in any tight end premium dynasty league.

Titans beat reporter Jim Wyatt notes that he expects 2nd year TE Josh Whyle to make a big jump in production this year.
The Tennessee Titans selection of big bodied former Cincinnati Bearcat TE Josh Whyle has generated very little buzz up to this point. Whyle’s work in the offseason has impressed head coach Bryan Callahan and team reporter Jim Wyatt. Callahan noted that he was impressed with the work Whyle has put in his first full professional offseason and that Whyle’s focus on getting bigger and stronger than his already massive 6 ‘7’’ 248 pound frame could lead to more looks in the passing game.
Jim Wyatt, a longtime Titans team reporter, hinted that there could be a “big jump” in productivity from Whyle. Whyle caught 9 passes for 94 yards and 1 TD on 15 targets last year before landing on injured reserve after a knee injury prematurely ended his 2023 rookie campaign. Whyle may not be on the redraft radar just yet, but with this news he should warrant serious consideration as a flyer on the end of dynasty rosters.
