Jared Wayne was the No. 4 Canadian prospect according to ESPN and committed to Pittsburgh. Wayne played as a true freshmen, and through his first two seasons he was a role player, finishing fifth and fourth in receiving yards, respectively.
In his true junior season, Wayne emerged as a secondary receiving option behind 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner Jordan Addison. He finished the 2021 season with 47 receptions for 658 yards and 6 touchdowns. That following season saw Addison depart Pittsburgh for USC, and in his absence Wayne took over the alpha receiver role. Wayne led the team with 1063 receiving yards, which was more than what the second- and third-leading receivers had combined. His senior season saw him named to the All-ACC Second Team.
