Jaray Jenkins was a four-star recruit and member of the ESPN300 coming out of high school, committing to LSU. A broken leg suffered in high school led to him redshirting in 2018 and he hardly played in 2019 on a stacked LSU team that featured Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Terrace Marshall at wide receiver. In 2020, Jenkins played as the WR3 behind Marshall and a freshman Kayshon Boutte, finishing third on the team in receiving yards.
In 2021, Jenkins finished second on the team in receiving yards (502) and receiving touchdowns (6) behind Boutte, while playing twice the amount of games as Boutte (6). His redshirted senior season in 2022 saw him slip to fourth in receiving yards and fifth in receptions in Brian Kelly's first season as the head coach at LSU. He did, however, lead the team in receiving touchdowns (6).
