Rashee Rice was a three-star recruit that joined SMU as a member of their 2019 recruiting class. As a true freshman, he finished four in receiving yards (403) behind future NFL draft picks, James Proche and Kylen Granson. With Proche's departure for the NFL the following season, Rice led the team in receptions (48), receiving (683), and receiving touchdowns (50 while playing along Granson and future NFL third-rounder, Danny Gray.
In 2021, Rice finished behind Gray in receiving yards, but Rice led the team in reception (64) and receiving touchdowns (9). Returning for his senior season in 2022, Rice put up a massive 96-1355-10 stat line. The 1355 receiving yards set a single-season record at SMU. His 233 career receptions were fifth in SMU history and the top-3 (Proche, Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley) all went on to play multiple seasons in the NFL.
