Duggan has started for four years at TCU, once a 189lb, 4-star prospect from rural Iowa, he broke TCU true freshman passing records with 2,077 yards and 15 touchdowns. Not only was Duggan a competent passer, but he showed off his 4.58 forty yard dash from The Opening in high school, finishing with 555 yards on the ground and 6 scores.
Improving from 53% to 63% passing in two seasons with Gary Patterson as the head coach, was impressive by itself, but Max was still not on NFL evaluators minds entering his 2022 campaign. TCU had finished with 5, 6 and 5 wins in each of those seasons. In 2022, Patterson was let go, and Sonny Dykes brought a perenniel top-20 scoring attack from SMU up to TCU. Not only did TCU increase from 28.7(66th) to 38.8(10th) in points per game, but established themselves as a power house in the Big-12, thanks to Duggan and his connection with fellow NFL prospects Quentin Johnston, Derius Davis and Kendre Miller.
