Michael Jefferson started his college career at Alabama State in 2018. As a true freshman, he caught 12 passes for 115 yards and four touchdowns. 2019 was his big breakout season, as he led the team with 49 catches for 767 yards and 12 touchdowns. In five games in 2020, Jefferson caught 24 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
He trasnferred to Louisiana after the 2020 season. In his first season in 2021, he caught 18 passes for 481 yards (26.7 yards per reception) and four touchdowns. Despite five playes finishing with more receptions, Jefferson led the team in receiving yards. As a senior in 2022, Jefferson dominated at Louisiana and led the team in receptions (51), yards (810), and touchdowns (7).
