The Philadelphia Eagles have drafted Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson with the 185th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Johnny Wilson was a four-star recruit to Arizona State in 2020 who transferred to Florida State in 2022. Over his two seasons with Florida State, he amassed 84 catches for 1514 yards and 7 touchdowns. He earned second-team All-ACC in 2022 and third-team All-ACC in 2023.
Wilson makes for an extremely intriguing draft prospect as he stands at 6’6” and weighed in at the combine at 231 pounds. His 9.88 relative athletic score is somewhat skewed by his height and weight alone, but he did post a very impressive long and broad jump with 37” and 10’8” respectively. He profiles solely as an outside receiver who will be used in the deep passing game.
Unfortunately for Wilson it will probably be tough to ever become a consistent fantasy receiver after the Eagles just extended both A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Wilson will likely be a depth piece for the Eagles who can fill Brown’s role if needed but he may provide to be another tall target in red zone packages.

Johnny Wilson is forcing his way up NFL Draft boards with a dominant performance at the 2024 NFL Combine.
Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson measures in at 6’6,’’ 231lbs and an unprecedented wingspan of 84.50 at his position. Wilson posted a 9.73 RAS at the 2024 NFL Combine. Running a 4.53 40-yard dash at his size is simply unfair to the rest of the NFL.
This wide receiver class has promised every archetype you could want. Johnny Wilson is his own iteration in this class. Will the NFL want Johnny Wilson as a tight end or a wide receiver? As such a large weapon, it likely won’t matter. What is holding Johnny Wilson back is his inconsistency with catching the football and raw route running. In his Senior year campaign, Wilson had 41 catches 617 yards, and 2 touchdowns in 10 games.
With a whole lot to work with going forward now that the measurables have been documented no matter what position Johnny Wilson plays in the NFL, his performance at the NFL Combine will generate desirable opportunity. Already slated to go in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft, the hype will build for Johnny Wilson.
