Rashid Shaheed did not finish practice Saturday after re-aggravating a lingering groin injury.
Reports out of Saints OTA’s indicated that Shaheed was “looking great” early on. This hype gave much hope that he could build off an impressive finish to a rookie campaign that saw him finish with at least 50 yards receiving in five of the Saint’s final six games. Since the beginning of Saint’s minicamp, however, he has been dealing with a lingering groin injury. Shaheed sat out the first three games of the mandatory minicamp and after sitting out nearly a month during OTA’s he appeared to be on the mend as training camp rolled around.
After a few weeks with no reports of any issues, the lingering groin injury popped back up during the first week of the official team training camp. Shaheed was unable to finish practice on Saturday after suffering a re-aggravation of the injury. Head coach Dennis Allen indicated that the injury was likely minor and that he was not overly concerned.
