Welcome to Week 9 NFL Takeaways! Good news, the Week 9 BYEs are over and if you were able to get a win, congratulations! Bad news, the Chiefs, Rams, Dolphins and Eagles are all on BYE in Week 10. Yikes.
Other than that, we saw some absolutely awesome performances from around the league, and there are some things to be really excited about.
So let’s start it off with the Week 9 Quick Takes Starting Lineup:
Week 9 Quick Takes Starting Lineup
QB: C.J. Stoud! Just wow.
RB: Gus Edwards just won’t stop scoring TDs.
RB: Are we about to witness a Rachaad White league winning fantasy run?
WR: Tank Dell is the best receiver in Houston. He is a buy in all formats.
WR: If Deshaun is in, start Amari Cooper…
TE: Just like last week, Taysom Hill is a must start every week.
FLEX: Arthur Smith is officially on the hot seat. This is a great sign for Bijan, London, and/or Pitts managers
SFLEX: At this point in the season, Mahomes is just a guy (for fantasy).
Takeaway No. 1: Do not sell Addison, Hockenson and/or Jefferson!
Last week, I came to you and said you should hold off on selling these Vikings pass catchers until the trade deadline passed.
Well, as all of you know, not only did the Vikings trade for Joshua Dobbs, but he’s the talk of the town and is more than viable to give Hockenson, Addison and Jefferson some life in your fantasy lineup.
Dobbs is going to start next week against the Saints. Judging what we have seen from him not only this year, but also today in this Kevin O’Connell offense, I feel just fine starting any Vikings pass catcher.
Also, there’s a good chance Justin Jefferson comes back from the IR this week. Who to be honest, I wouldn’t be worried about. Jefferson is a product of the scheme and his talent, not his quarterback play.
Kevin O’Connell
O’Connell is going to find ways to get him the ball. Considering the Vikings are going to try and make a playoff push, and the fact their run game is mediocre at best, likely means they are going to try and get it done through the air.
Dobbs is also only going to get better as he continues to get more acclimated into this offense. We saw what he and O’Connell were able to cook up today on four days’ notice. I have faith that he will continue to figure out this offense in the coming weeks.
I’m not saying that he’s going to give you the Kirk Cousins numbers, but I wholeheartedly believe he’s better than a lot of the other QBs who have starting jobs right now.
So trade for/start all of these guys because it’s Joshua Dobbs SZN in Minnesota, and it’s about to get CHILLY!
Takeaway No. 2: Dynasty Take: Go get Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts and Drake London
The Arthur Smith experience is coming to an end in Atlanta. It may not be this week or next week. However, by the start of next season, Atlanta will have a new head coach and play caller.
This is obviously for teams who are rebuilding and/or feel like gambling on three guys who have under-produced to this point in their careers. However, every single one of them has flashed enough for everyone in the industry to recognize that they aren’t bad. They are just being misused.
Kyle Pitts had a 1,000+ yard season as a rookie, but now he plays left tackle or doesn’t play at all.
Bijan Robinson was looking like a SMASH pick in redraft through the first five weeks of the season, but now he’s pretty much a satellite and breather back.
Drake London has actually been the most productive of the group. Given that he’s been more than start-able in your lineups with Arthur Smith, I’m excited to see what he will do with Ben Johnson in 2024!
In all seriousness, it cannot get any worse for any of these guys than it has been with Arthur Smith at the helm.
Buy Low Window
All three of these guys are still under the age of 24 years old and the prime of their career is ahead of them, so take advantage of their discounted price because right now is the lowest it will ever be.
If you can trade an early 2024 first for Bijan Robinson, do it.
Can you can trade a late 2024 first for Kyle Pitts? If so, do it.
If you can trade a mid 2024 first for Drake London, do it.
The buying window is officially open, take advantage because better days are ahead.
Takeaway No. 3: I may have been terribly wrong about Jonathan Taylor…
After last week, it appeared that this backfield was going to be a true 50/50 split. The carries, the receptions, and the fantasy points were all the exact same since Taylor has been back. And because of this I told you to buy Zack Moss and sell Taylor.
Well, this week, Jonathan Taylor had 18 carries and five receptions for 69 total yards and a TD. Zack Moss had seven carries and zero receptions for 26 yards.
Ladies and gentleman, this is Taylor’s backfield, and I was a fool for ever thinking it was going to be anything different.
A quick takeaway for y’all, but I had to say I was wrong because Taylor might be a league winner down the stretch. If you can still buy relatively low on him, I would pull the trigger.
