Every offseason, fantasy football managers search for the next easy button Chief’s skill position player to help put their team over the top. In 2020 rookie drafts, fantasy gamers flew too close to the sun by selecting Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the same tier as Jonathan Taylor. We won’t even talk about what FFPC drafters did with their free look after his 2020 Week 1 debut against the Houston Texans. Like a penny stock you can’t quite quit, fantasy managers have persistently gone after Chiefs players tied to Patrick Mahomes.

There is survivorship bias in players that have been deemed hits such as Isiah Pacheco and Rashee Rice. For every Pacheco and Rice there is a Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kadarius Toney, and Skyy Moore. The challenge going forward will be to decipher which players are truly talented versus just getting a ticket to play with Patrick Mahomes.

Separating the dopamine hit from late ADP rewards that Chiefs players offer will take plenty of discipline in the future. With 3.8 fantasy points per game on a 52.6% snap share in 2023 there isn’t quite much to expect from Skyy Moore in Super Bowl LVIII or heading into next season.  If you’ve invested heavily into Skyy Moore, you have had to be a bag holder.
