Underdog has quickly become one of the most popular apps to play fantasy football in the best ball format. There are plenty of articles out there about the top picks for Underdog best ball tournaments. In this article, I’m sharing some of my favorite fantasy sleepers to draft across the offensive positions.

QB Targets
The starting quarterback situation isn’t clear for many teams across the league, especially on teams where we’d be looking for a sleeper pick. The Pittsburgh Steelers have stated that Russell Wilson will be their starter. It’s not so clear if he’ll remain the starter with a much younger Justin Fields waiting in the wings, but let’s go with it. Wilson was ranked as QB31 but ranked No. 23 in best ball points added.
Something else that stands out to me in looking at Wilson’s 2023 stats is that he ranked No. 12 in FPPG. Moving to Pittsburgh seems like a great opportunity for Wilson. He’s going to have some top-notch talent on his side with George Pickens, Pat Freiermuth, and rookie Roman Wilson.
RB Targets
It’s been reported that Gus Edwards is out with an undisclosed injury but will be back for camp. The Chargers backfield feels like it’s pretty wide-open with competition from the injury-prone J.K. Dobbins and rookie Kimani Vidal. Edwards has the experience needed to make an impact on this Chargers team, and he’ll be working with OC Greg Romans again. He averaged 11 FPPG in 2023 and added 89.1 best ball points. This recent injury will likely bump Edwards further down in the ADP, so take advantage of it.
Chuba Hubbard is in a great position to be the RB1 in the coming season for the Panthers. His biggest competition is rookie Jonathon Brooks. The two will surely be battling it out in camp, but as the veteran, I’m giving the edge to Hubbard. Last season, he averaged 10.7 FPPG and added 75.2 best ball points. Hubbard’s current ADP is around 151 and PlayerProfiler has him ranked at RB51.
The Cowboys have brought back former RB1 Ezekiel Elliott for the 2024 season, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be the lead back. Rico Dowdle was able to show a little bit of what he could do last season in the shadow of Tony Pollard. With Pollard moving on to the Titans, now is the time for Dowdle to step up. Elliott is injury-prone and often most utilized at the goal line. This leaves room for Dowdle to gain more targets and more rushing yards this season. PlayerProfiler has him ranked currently at RB43. Therefore, Dowdle is one of the better fantasy sleepers to target in Underdog drafts.
WR Targets
Michael Wilson might be one of the most overlooked fantasy sleepers at wide receivers in the league. The consensus seems to be looking at rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. as the Cardinals’ WR1 with another bulk of targets going to tight end Trey McBride. That’s fair, but don’t sleep on Wilson. He will have a ton of targets this season. He was averaging 8.8 FFPG in 2023, and he was out for several games with a neck injury. Wilson has an amazing field presence and can catch anything. He caught one of the longest passes in the league last season with a 69-yard bomb from Joshua Dobbs in the Cardinals’ win over the Cowboys.
Currently ranked as WR52, Romeo Doubs is an excellent target for Underdog Best Ball tournaments. It’s not clear who the top receiver is for the Packers at this time. It’s assumed that it will be Christian Watson, but considering his history, Watson’s play was spotty at best towards the tail-end of the season. This allowed Doubs to make a pretty good impact. He averaged 10.3 FPPG and added 61.9 best ball points. Look for Doubs to continue to play a large role as a quality receiver for the Packers this season.
While Rashid Shaheed was an inconsistent receiver in the 2023 season, his snap share and route running percentage were pretty consistent. It’s clear that he’s a trusted receiver for veteran quarterback Derek Carr. Averaging 10.4 FPPG in 2023, Shaheed had four games where he scored 18 or more fantasy points. He also scored five touchdowns and that’s nothing to sneeze at! He’ll be back again for the 2024 season and will absolutely play a worthwhile role for best ball managers.
TE Targets
Choosing fantasy sleepers at tight end isn’t an easy task. I’ve decided not to force it and focus on one. Zach Ertz, who’s ranked as TE28 is being reunited with Kliff Kingsbury as the Commanders’ new offensive coordinator. Prior to his 2023 injury and late-season trade to the Lions, Ertz was a force to be reckoned with. He’s a talented veteran that’s sure to bring value to the team. He’s not a particularly good blocker, so that’s something to consider when weighing him against rookie Ben Sinnott. Knowing this, it seems more likely that Ertz would be the primary tight end receiver with Sinnott doing the blocking.
