by Theo Gremminger · Featured

Week 2 Fantasy Football Sleepers is here, and we already have countless injuries across all four positions. While last week’s article may have been an afterthought for you, this week’s may be a much more pressing read. Some of you may need to use one of these players in a spot start. Others can take this list of names and use it as a Waiver Wire of the future list. Any way you cut it; this week has some very intriguing names that are available in way too many leagues.

Every player on this list is available in at least 70% of Yahoo Leagues.

QBs

Justin Fields – Pittsburgh Steelers (16%)

Fields had a quiet Week 1 as Pittsburgh got out of Atlanta with the win. This week, they may have to be more aggressive and open in a tricky road game in Denver. Fields lit up the Broncos last season, finishing with 335 passing yards and four TDs.

There were some promising developments in Week 1 for fantasy: Fields had 14 rushing attempts, and George Pickens looks awesome. Stream Fields if you need a QB in Week 2 Fantasy Football.

Daniel Jones – New York Giants (6%)

Washington may be the easiest matchup for opposing QBs in football right now. Baker Mayfield had four passing TDs in Week 1 and finished with 289 passing yards while adding 21 rushing yards. Jones was abysmal last week but has a chance to build some positive momentum and hold onto his job for at least another week.

RBs

Bucky Irving – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (30%)

Simply put, Irving is nasty. After Week 1’s performance, he deserves more touches. Irving averaged 6.9 yards per carry—badly outperforming Rachaad White as a runner. White is still a talented player, especially as a receiver, but Irving is already a handcuff-plus. Prediction: he will be over 50-percent rostered by October. If you are in a pinch, consider him for your RB2 or flex even in a difficult matchup this week against Detroit.

Ty Chandler – Minnesota (28%)

Aaron Jones dominated the RB scoring last week for Minnesota. The Vikings were on cruise control against the hapless Giants. This week, they face off against a buzz saw 49ers defense. Expect even more Chandler, including more valuable targets.

Chandler had three catches for 25 yards last week—expect that number to tick up. Jones is also 29 and played only 12 games last year. Chandler should be heavily rostered.

Tank Bigsby – Jacksonville (27%)

Bigsby was a beast in Week 1, rushing for 73 yards on only 12 carries. Expect another week with double-digit touches. The Browns’ offense is reeling, and Jacksonville could be in control of this one. Bigsby is a legitimate threat to Travis Etienne‘s weekly volume. If Etienne were to miss time, Bigsby would have weekly 20+ touch potential. Pick him up if available.

Justice Hill – Baltimore (14%)

Everyone will tell you that this is a Derrick Henry week. On paper, it certainly looks like that. But what if Hill’s Week 1 involvement was not specific to the difficult matchup against KC, and he is a thing each week? Scoop him up this week and find out. His eight catches in Week 1 led all RBs. He’s a solid add for Week 2 Fantasy Football.

WRs

Demarcus Robinson – LA Rams (26%)

Robinson will step into the WR2 role with Puka Nacua set to miss time. He has had some success since arriving in LA. From Weeks 13-17 in 2023, Robinson had a TD or at least six catches in every game. There will be competition from other players, but Robinson is the logical bet to have a short-term usage bump.

Tyler Johnson/Jordan Whittington – LA Rams (9%/2%)

If Robinson is rostered, or you want a contrarian play at WR in LA, consider Johnson or Whittington. Johnson caught five passes for 79 yards last week and looked very good. Whittington was a star in the preseason. My guess is that this week Johnson challenges Robinson for immediate production, but the Rams could self-scout Whittington to be more involved as the season progresses.

Wan’Dale Robinson – New York Giants (15%)

Robinson led New York with 12 targets in Week 1. He finished with six catches for 44 yards and added a 14-yard rushing attempt as well. The Giants’ offense is a trainwreck, but Robinson is going to see consistent touches this season.

His game matches up with Daniel Jones‘ limitations as a passer. Add in that Malik Nabers is banged up, and Robinson should be rostered everywhere.

Greg Dortch – Arizona (12%)

Dortch will continue to be a weekly floor play. He had six catches in Week 1’s loss to Buffalo and added a rushing attempt. If Marvin Harrison Jr. is slow to get started, Dortch could have another useful game this week. Dortch is a solid add before Week 2 Fantasy Football matchups begin.

Jalen McMillan – Tampa Bay (6%)

McMillan caught a TD in his debut game. He only finished with one catch, but he is a very talented player, and the Bucs are using three WRs on nearly every play. McMillan played over 80-percent of the Bucs’ offensive snaps in a blowout win. Expect him to be on the field a ton this season.

Adonai Mitchell – Indianapolis (26%)

Remember Alec Pierce‘s Week 1 output? That could have easily been Mitchell. He has flashed elite separation skills to go along with his outstanding athletic profile. A spike week is coming. Pick him up now before he becomes everyone’s favorite waiver wire pickup.

Tight Ends

Tyler Conklin – New York Jets (18%)

Theo, who? Gross. Yes, I realize Conklin was invisible last week against San Francisco, but the overall usage was promising. Conklin played in 90-percent of the Jets’ offensive snaps and ran 27 routes—tying Trey McBride with 90-percent route participation. Conklin has been targeted 87 times, three seasons in a row. He is due for a bounce-back game.

Juwan Johnson – New Orleans (7%)

I am using Johnson in a league where I lost David Njoku this week.

He caught a TD in Week 1 and should see an uptick in usage as the Saints look to try and keep up with Dallas on the road. The overall pass attempts will tick up in this one.

Noah Fant – Seattle (30%)

New England was extremely stingy against Cincinnati’s WRs last week, and this week’s defensive game plan could look the same. Fant did nothing in Week 1 but had 76-percent route participation and played in 75-percent of Seattle’s snaps. He is a dart throw TE option this week.
