I’m back with another Mock Draft, this time version 6, featuring 7 Rounds with every pick from the 2022 NFL Draft. With the draft process all but wrapped up, we are in the final stretch now with two weeks until the NFL Draft in Primetime on April 28th in Las Vegas. Be sure to tune in on Twitter @CarpentierNFL and @RotoUnderworld for boots on the ground analysis at the NFL Draft.
In 2021, I successfully predicted 8 of 32 picks in Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft, and in 2022 we are back looking to improve even more. My Mock Draft 6.0 will be dropping this week in spurts, starting with Round 1-3 below, Rounds 4-5 on Monday, and lastly Rounds 6-7 Tuesday morning.
But until then, make sure to Check out My Top 300 Prospects and the NEW PlayerProfiler NFL Draft/Fantasy Rookie Draft Guide available on the homepage, and below. It’s officially DRAFT SEASON, so sit back, lock-in, and stay on the lookout for more, and MORE 2022 Rookie Prospect information.
Mock Trades
- Philadelphia Eagles send Pick No. 15, No. 51, and a 2023 3rd to Carolina for Pick No. 6.
- Atlanta Falcons send Pick No. 43, No. 82, and a 2023 4th to Kansas City for Pick No. 30.
Round 1 (Picks No. 1-32)
No. 1 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE – Michigan
I will not pretend to enjoy this pick, as I believe it “should” be Evan Neal/Ickey Ekwonu, but all signs are pointing to Hutchinson playing in Duval in 2022. Over the last three seasons, defensive line coach Brentson Buckner has worked with the likes of Chandler Jones, Maxx Crosby, and Jason Pierre-Paul – all who profile with a similar playing style to how Hutchinson wants to approach the NFL… “In a two-point stance, rushing off the edge”.
- If Cody was the GM: Evan Neal, OT – Alabama
- Mock 5.0: Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE – Michigan
No. 2 – Detroit Lions – Ikem Ekwonu, OL – NC State
Look for Brad Holmes to attempt to move down if the opportunity arises. He spent eight of 16 seasons with Les Snead in Los Angeles, and I would be doing this wrong if I didn’t remind folks what happened during Snead’s first draft back in 2012 while holding the No. 2 overall pick. The Jets, Atlanta, or Seattle are the three teams I’m looking at to move up.
- If Cody was the GM: Trade Down.
- Mock 5.0: Trade to Seattle – Malik Willis, QB – Liberty
No. 3 – Houston Texans – Evan Neal, OT – Alabama
The Texans found at least a quarterback placeholder in the Round 3 of the 2021 Draft, so at No. 3, we see Houston grab their bookend tackle. Neal joins Laremy Tunsil on the new-look offense that moved on from Deshaun Watson just a few weeks ago.
- If Cody was the GM: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE – Oregon
- Mock 5.0: Evan Neal, OT – Alabama
No. 4 – New York Jets – Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE – Oregon
After moving Thibodeaux down in Mock 5.0, I have returned to where I sat in Mock 4.0. The Jets need help on the defensive line and on the back end, but you can only answer one question at a time. With the first of New York’s four picks inside the top 40, they grab the most talented player in the class. The Jets were linked to Chandler Jones in free agency. Robert Salah gets his Nick Bosa East.
- If Cody was the GM: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE – Oregon
- Mock 5.0: Sauce Gardner, CB – Cincinnati
No. 5 – New York Giants – Charles Cross, OT – Mississippi State
It is well known by now that New York needs help on both sides of the ball along the line of scrimmage. With Carolina at No. 6 needing a tackle, and quarterback. Assume they stay at No. 6, and make the decision for them. The Giants get the best player on their board at Pick No. 5.
- If Cody was the GM: Travon Walker, EDGE – Georgia
- Mock 5.0: Ickey Ekwonu, OL – NC State
No. 6 – Philadelphia Eagles (FROM CAROLINA) – Sauce Gardner, CB – Cincinnati
Carolina moves back from No. 6 to No. 15, also adding Pick No. 51 and a 2023 3rd round pick. Prior to the trade, Carolina had zero picks between No. 6 and No. 137. The Eagles had pre-draft visits with Sauce Gardner and Kayvon Thibodeaux, and at this point, only one has fallen. Philadelphia needs to get ahead of both New York teams and Seattle to get Sauce and pair him with Darius Slay and Avonte Maddox.
- If Cody was the GM: Carolina – Trade Down.
- Mock 5.0: Carolina – Matt Corral, QB – Ole Miss
No. 7 – New York Giants – Travon Walker, EDGE – Georgia
Missing out on Sauce Gardner, the Giants pivot to Travon Walker at Pick No. 7 to pair with Leonard Williams, Justin Ellis, and Dexter Lawrence along the defensive line. Walker visited the Giants two weeks ago with fellow Bulldog James Cook. Giants GM Joe Schoen was also at the Georgia Pro Day.
- If Cody was the GM: Trevor Penning, OT – Northern Iowa
- Mock 5.0: Travon Walker, EDGE – Georgia
No. 8 – Atlanta Falcons – Jermaine Johnson, EDGE – Florida State
Johnson has dominated during each phase of draft season, the 2021 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and Reese’s Senior Bowl player of the week has it all from the mentality to the physical aspect of the game. My closest comparable from a gameplay standpoint is Danielle Hunter. Johnson’s run defense is second to none in this class, with his pass-rushing close behind. Atlanta needs a lot of help, so riding with Marcus Mariota at quarterback has to stay the plan knowing 2022 will be a long long season.
- If Cody was the GM: Jermaine Johnson, EDGE – Florida State
- Mock 5.0: Trevor Penning, OT – Northern Iowa
No. 9 – Seattle Seahawks – Malik Willis, QB – Liberty
I previously thought a trade-up would be needed to land Malik, but the only team I am worried about is Atlanta and Carolina, or a New Orleans trade-up. Malik falls to No. 9 here and into the Seahawk’s lap.
- If Cody was the GM: Trevor Penning, OT – Northern Iowa
- Mock 5.0: Traded with Detroit: Kyle Hamilton, S – Notre Dame
No. 10 – New York Jets – Garrett Wilson, WR – Ohio State
The Jets are in on what seems to be a small batch of players, Garrett Wilson, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Sauce Gardner, and Drake London. Joe Douglas takes Thibodeaux at No. 4 and comes back for the wide receiver at No. 10 with Wilson.
- If Cody was the GM: Kyle Hamilton, S – Notre Dame
- Mock 5.0: Jermaine Johnson, EDGE – Florida State
No. 11 – Washington Commanders – Drake London, WR – USC
Jordan Matthews, Alshon Jeffery, Michael Pittman. That has been the prototype that suits Carson Wentz (the new quarterback for the Commanders). London is better than them all and after having ankle surgery early in the process. Evaluators waited until April 15th to see him work out. He was scheduled to workout on April 4th (Ron Rivera was projected to attend), and Rivera was unable to attend on the 15th, but the Commander’s contingent was boots on the ground.
- If Cody was the GM: Derek Stingley, CB – LSU
- Mock 5.0: Drake London, WR – USC
No. 12 – Minnesota Vikings – Kyle Hamilton, S – Notre Dame
Ten years ago the Vikings drafted Harrison Smith at pick No. 29 in Round 1. And since that selection, they have been looking for someone to pair with him. Now that Smith’s career is on the back nine, the once thought of top 5 pick drops to Minnesota at No. 12. Despite trade-down options, New GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah makes a splash with his first selection.
- If Cody was the GM: Kyle Hamilton, S – Notre Dame
- Mock 5.0: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE – Oregon
No. 13 – Houston Texans – Jordan Davis, DT – Georgia
The benefit of trading away a franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson is reaping the reward with draft picks and building from within. The correct way to rebuild a franchise. Evan Neal and Jordan Davis in Round 1 is a smash.
- If Cody was the GM: Jordan Davis, DT – Georgia
- Mock 5.0: Jordan Davis, DT – Georgia
No. 14 – Baltimore Ravens – Trevor Penning, OT – Northern Iowa
Taylor Lewan‘s doppelganger goes to Baltimore. When I asked GM Eric DeCosta at the NFL Combine what position he really enjoyed to scout in this class, he replied: “It’s an interesting draft class. Offensive Line I think is very very strong this year. We’ve had a chance to meet with some guys already. Outside linebacker for us, the 4-3 D-End, but for us, the 3-4 Outside Linebacker type guys, the EDGE players I think is a strong class, and then cornerback as well it looks pretty deep, it looks like you can get a corner pretty much at any point throughout the draft.”
- If Cody was the GM: Derek Stingley, CB – LSU
- Mock 5.0: Charles Cross, OT – Mississippi State
No. 15 – Carolina Panthers (FROM PHILADELPHIA) – Matt Corral, QB – Ole Miss
The Panthers traded down with Philadelphia and still get the quarterback they coveted.
- Mock 5.0: Philadelphia – George Karlaftis, EDGE – Purdue
No. 16 – New Orleans Saints – Jameson Williams, WR – Alabama
- If Cody was the GM: Bernhard Raimann, OT – Central Michigan
- Mock 5.0: Philadelphia – Andrew Booth, CB – Clemson
No. 17 – Los Angeles Chargers – Tyler Smith, OT – Tulsa
The Chargers do the right thing and take an offensive lineman again in 2022. Storm Norton is a bottom-five tackle in the NFL and the overall depth of the Chargers’ line is struggling. Smith can start Day 1 on the inside, and with requisite training this offseason, at right tackle.
- If Cody was the GM: Tyler Smith, OT – Tulsa
- Mock 5.0: Devonte Wyatt, DL – Georgia
No. 18 – Philadelphia Eagles – Treylon Burks, WR – Arkansas
Going back to Mock 2.0 with this one, Burks was in for a visit with the Eagles this month, as was Chris Olave, and Jameson Williams. Olave fits in the Devonta Smith role and would be a redundant asset as they are missing a true alpha receiver.
- If Cody was the GM: Derek Stingley, CB – LSU
- Mock 5.0: Bernhard Raimann, OT – Central Michigan
No. 19 – New Orleans Saints – Bernhard Raimann, OT – Central Michigan
A lot of people are pointing to Trevor Penning here, but Penning will be long gone by No. 19.
- If Cody was the GM:
- Mock 5.0: Derek Stingley, CB – LSU
No. 20 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Derek Stingley, CB – LSU
Mike Tomlin did the thing. He traveled to every Pro Day, every pre-draft event, and showed everyone his interest in Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder, and Matt Corral. And unlike Mock 5.0, he will pass on all of them and this time take the value of Derek Stingley from LSU. If Stingley is healthy, this fit will be majestic.
- If Cody was the GM: Derek Stingley, CB – LSU
- Mock 5.0: Desmond Ridder, QB – Cincinnati
No. 21 – New England Patriots – Zion Johnson, IOL – Boston College
It comes down to Zion Johnson or Devin Lloyd here for New England, but trading away Shaquille Mason, and losing Ted Karras opens up a need on the interior. The Patriots added Mack Wilson from Cleveland to the linebacker room and can look to wide receiver in later rounds due to the great depth in the class.
- If Cody was the GM: Zion Johnson or Devin Lloyd, LB – Utah
- Mock 5.0: Zion Johnson, IOL – Boston College
No. 22 – Green Bay Packers – Chris Olave, WR – Ohio State
The slam dunk of all 360’s between the legs right here. Olave falls to Green Bay at No. 22 as four receivers go in the top 18. Green Bay added Sammy Watkins last week, retained Allen Lazard, and still have Amari Rodgers and Randall Cobb on the roster. The only thing they are missing is a Stretch Z, and it’s no whisper that Green Bay has done its due diligence on all of the wide receivers.
- If Cody was the GM: Chris Olave, WR – Ohio State
- Mock 5.0: Jahan Dotson, WR – Penn State
No. 23 – Arizona Cardinals – Trent McDuffie, CB – Washington
The Cardinals dip back into the Washington Husky defensive backfield.
- If Cody was the GM: Devonte Wyatt, DL – Georgia
- Mock 5.0: Travis Jones, DT – Connecticut
No. 24 – Dallas Cowboys – Devin Lloyd, LB – Utah
Jerry Jones runs…hands the card to one of his “people” to run to the podium.
- If Cody was the GM: Andrew Booth, CB – Clemson
- Mock 5.0: Trent McDuffie, CB – Washington
No. 25 – Buffalo Bills – Kaiir Elam, CB – Florida
Buffalo grabs a need, with a startable cornerback in 2022. Levi Wallace in Pittsburgh, and Tre’Davious White recovering from a torn ACL. Expect Elam to come in and start from the hippity hop.
- If Cody was the GM: Kaiir Elam, CB – Florida
- Mock 5.0: Kaiir Elam, CB – Florida
No. 26 – Tennessee Titans – Kenyon Green, IOL – Texas A&M
It comes down to Kenyon Green vs. Tyler Linderbaum, and Jon Robinson makes another mistake by taking Green. But hey, his arms are three inches longer than Linderbaum’s, so the process is right.. right? No
- If Cody was the GM: Tyler Linderbaum, IOL – Iowa or Jahan Dotson, WR – Penn State
- Mock 5.0: Garrett Wilson, WR – Ohio State
No. 27 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Tyler Linderbaum, IOL – Iowa
Did Tyler Linderbaum just fall into Tampa Bay’s lap? Yes. The offensive line version of what the Vikings did in 2020, taking Justin Jefferson just one pick after the Eagles took Jalen Reagor.
- If Cody was the GM: Devonte Wyatt, DL – Georgia
- Mock 5.0: Logan Hall, DL – Houston
No. 28 – Green Bay Packers – Devonte Wyatt, DL – Georgia
Gutekunst jumps at the idea of having a National Champion on the roster, Wyatt is my No. 10 overall prospect in 2022.
- If Cody was the GM: Devonte Wyatt, DL – Georgia
- Mock 5.0: Tyler Smith, OT – Tulsa
No. 29 – Kansas City Chiefs – Jahan Dotson, WR – Penn State
The Chiefs use one of their first-round picks and take the #Dynamic superstar from Penn State, Jahan Dotson.
- If Cody was the GM: Skyy Moore, WR – Western Michigan
- Mock 5.0: Jameson Williams, WR – Alabama
No. 30 – Atlanta Falcons (FROM KANSAS CITY) – Kenny Pickett, QB – Pittsburgh
- Mock 5.0: Kansas City – Boye Mafe, EDGE – Minnesota
No. 31 – Cincinnati Bengals – George Karlaftis, EDGE – Purdue
At this point, George Karlaftis becomes a value, and the loss of Larry Ogunjobi starts to wane. The Bengals pair Karlaftis with Sam Hubbard, D.J. Reader, and Trey Hendrickson to create a truly dynamic defensive line.
- If Cody was the GM: Trade into Round 2.
- Mock 5.0: Traded with Atlanta: Kenny Pickett, QB – Pittsburgh
No. 32 – Detroit Lions – Nakobe Dean, LB – Georgia
Detroit opts to take Nakobe Dean at 32 instead of waiting until No. 34 or No. 40 when they can answer the quarterback and wide receiver positions.
- If Cody was the GM: Christian Watson, WR – NDSU
- Mock 5.0: Chris Olave, WR – Ohio State

Round 2 (Picks No. 33-64)
No. 33 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Andrew Booth, CB – Clemson
No. 34 – Detroit Lions – Sam Howell, QB – North Carolina
No. 35 – New York Jets – Daxton Hill, S – Michigan
No. 36 – New York Giants – Quay Walker, LB – Georgia
No. 37 – Houston Texans – Christian Watson, WR – NDSU
No. 38 – New York Jets – Kyler Gordon, CB – Washington
No. 39 – Chicago Bears – George Pickens, WR – Georgia
No. 40 – Seattle Seahawks – Tariq Woolen, CB – UTSA
No. 41 – Seattle Seahawks – Arnold Ebiketie, EDGE – Penn State
No. 42 – Indianapolis Colts – Desmond Ridder, QB – Cincinnati
No. 43 – Kansas City Chiefs – Boye Mafe, EDGE – Minnesota
No. 44 – Cleveland Browns – Travis Jones, DL – Connecticut
No. 45 – Baltimore Ravens – David Ojabo, EDGE – Michigan
No. 46 – Minnesota Vikings – Logan Hall, DL – Houston
No. 47 – Washington Commanders – Jaquan Brisker, S – Penn State
No. 48 – Chicago Bears – Perrion Winfrey, DL – Oklahoma
No. 49 – New Orleans Saints – Lewis Cine, S – Georgia
*this is the absolute floor for Lewis Cine, and I love this landing spot.
Lewis Cine is explosive 🧨
