Week 13 Defensive Streamers for Fantasy Football 2024: Best D/ST Options to Start

by Jonathan Lange · Fantasy Football

Welcome to Defensive Streamers! The smell of turkey is in the air, and fantasy playoff spots are being clinched. If you’re reading this article, congratulations for making it this far in your league and for being on the sharpest fantasy website! Last week was a good week for our streaming selections, but the results appeared much different than I expected. Washington was a disappointment last week, gathering up only one sack and one turnover. The other two teams were smash selections.

Firstly, the Tampa Bay defense was stellar on Sunday. They crushed the Giants to the tune of four sacks and one turnover and limited the Giants to seven points. The other option offered up was the Arizona Cardinals. They were in a slugfest with Seattle, suffocating Geno Smith with five sacks. The Seahawks only allowed one offensive touchdown all game as well.

That was a strong week with two top 10 defenses even with six teams on bye. This week has its share of challenges as well. This article comes out on Fridays, and six teams have already played on Thanksgiving. The article will be coming out while Kansas City and Las Vegas are duking it out on Black Friday. But I still got some decent options available.

Reminder: these teams are available in 60% or more of Yahoo leagues.

Indianapolis Colts (available in 81%) vs. New England Patriots

The Colts face off against Drake Maye and the Patriots Sunday, making them my safe option of the week. Maye has been sacked an average of three times over the last four games. Adding insult to injury, he’s also produced nine turnovers over the last four games. The rookie has flashed talent this year, but he has been a gift to opposing defenses.

The Patriots have an unimpressive 20-point team total. Additionally, the Patriots continue to be unimpressive in the offensive touchdown department, scoring four touchdowns over the past three weeks. The Colts won’t be the top-scoring defense of the week, but a streamer that finishes with 6-8 fantasy points is a quality choice. If you like to embrace risk, my next option is for those that embrace chaos.

Seattle Seahawks (available in 87%) vs. New York Jets

Mike McDonald was hired to bring in a new defensive mentality with Seattle, and it appears to be taking shape. Seattle had their bye in Week 10, so it’s only been two weeks, but they have quietly produced two solid outings in back-to-back games. Seattle held San Francisco to 17 total points even with Christian McCaffery and Deebo Samuel. Last week they bludgeoned Kyler Murray, finishing the game with five sacks and a pick six. Up next is the most dysfunctional offense in the league, the Jets! My fear with nominating the Seahawks is that the Jets have plenty of talent with Davante Adams, Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall. Quarterback play has significantly hindered this once promising offense, but there is always potential for the Jets to turn it around.

New Orleans Saints (available in 75%) vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Saints are another option that provides some safety if you are in a pinch. This analysis is much simpler: The Saints are at home and playing much better with interim head coach Darren Rizzi. In those two games with Rizzi in charge, they have gobbled up three sacks each.

The turnovers aren’t there, but Kyren Williams has been exceptional at fumbling the ball. He’s been charged with five fumbles this season. The Rams are also dealing with injury issues at the offensive tackle position. The Saints are rested off the bye and at home, making them a quality start if you’re short on options.

Week 14 options to stash:

Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. Tennessee Titans)

There aren’t many options available next week, and I hesitated to place them here. But it’s important to remember that Will Levis has been sacked an average of seven times a game over his last three starts.

New Orleans Saints (vs. New York Giants)

This is the prime defense to stash if you need an advantage next week. I’d have some small concerns if Drew Lock is the starter, but the Saints will be a strong start next week with six teams on bye.
