Last week, I had Indianapolis and Atlanta, who were modest floor plays with three turnovers combined. I also suggested the Lions, who were the highest scoring D/ST in most formats with four sacks and five turnovers!
The cherry on top was me promoting the second-highest scoring D/ST in Tampa Bay. The Bucs ended up with five sacks, three turnovers, and one defensive touchdown. The hits keep on coming, but we’re never satisfied at PlayerProfiler! My goal will be to give the best options available throughout the entire season. Even with navigating through byes and poor matchups, you can count on this article to bring you the goods.
Note: All defenses listed are available in 60-percent or more of Yahoo Leagues. Cincinnati’s defense is available in 47-percent of leauges. While they aren’t the strongest defense, they do get the favorable matchup against Cleveland and make for a fine option this week.
Fantasy Football Defensive Streamers Week 7
LA Rams (85% availability) vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Quietly, before the team’s bye week, the Rams had a major shakeup in their secondary. Darious Williams returned from injury, and Cobie Durant started on the outside while former all-pro Tre’Davious White was a healthy scratch. The new secondary performed admirably against Jordan Love. Aidan O’Connell is a much easier challenge than Love, and now he’s without Davante Adams. The Raiders have the third-lowest team total on Sunday with 18. Give me a rested Rams defense to take advantage of the disorganized Raiders offense. They are my favorite stream of the weekend.
Washington Commanders (90% availability) vs. Carolina Panthers
The Washington Commanders’ defense is bad, but is it as bad as we all imagined? Washington was usually a bottom-three defense over previous seasons, but Dan Quinn is slowly turning this defense around. They’re ranked 19th in pass yards allowed per game, even after playing against Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Kyler Murray. They aren’t a top-10 defense by any measure, but they play hard and fast and listen to their defensive-minded coach. Carolina has struggled on offense, even after the change at quarterback to Andy Dalton. Dalton has only been sacked five times over the last four games, but, fortunately for opposing defenses, he has thrown three interceptions over the last two games. While the Rams offer the most upside of these selections, Washington has a safer floor.
New England Patriots (91% availability) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Patriots travel to jolly old England this week, where they will face off against the Jags. The Patriots are fresh off a beatdown from Houston, who hung 41 points on them, making this suggestion incredibly risky. However, five of the last six London games have hit the under, and there is optimism that this game will go under as well. The Patriots are middle of the road when it comes to forcing turnovers and generating sacks. I would tempt fate and go with the Colts before I select New England, but the Pats can be a solid low-floor option.
The Not-in-My-League Option
Indianapolis Colts (75% availability) vs. Miami Dolphins
Congratulations to the Colts for being the first ever back-to-back “not-in-my-league” option! Ever since the Tua Tagovailoa injury, the Dolphins’ offense has been downright unwatchable. They have averaged only eight points per game over the last three games. Tyreek Hill is always a threat to score, but he’s had only one game with more than 50 yards receiving since Tua’s injury. The Colts can struggle to generate pressure, but the Dolphins’ offense without Tua is truly terrible. The risk of this play is that the Colts are not great, and, despite a lack of scoring over the last three games, its easy to envision a big game from Tyreek or De’Von Achane against this flimsy defense.
Week 8 Options to Stash:
- Detroit Lions vs. Tennessee Titans: Eventually, Will Levis will be benched. But I don’t expect Mason Rudolph to turn the Titans’ offense into a machine.
- Arizona Cardinals vs. Miami Dolphins: If Tua is still out, the Cardinals will be considered to be a top streamer for the week.
