Sell At The Top

Dynasty is a value game. The trade market in your league depends on the way your leaguemates perceive value. Player values shift rapidly, depending on the player’s previous year production and NFL roster moves. To maximize our dynasty championship windows, we should be willing to sell high on players that have had career years or are at the top of the market in perceived value for some other reason.

Selling high helps maximize value and build equity. You are trying to build a robust roster that synthesizes value and production to keep your championship window open. Below, we take a look at some players who are hot trade targets right now and can be liquidated to maximize value and get usable pieces for the coming seasons.

Top of the Market Dynasty Fantasy Football Trade Candidates

Jayden Daniels | QB, Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels is one of the hottest assets in dynasty fantasy football. Coming off a very promising rookie year, the former Heisman winner is one of a few dynasty assets that can bring multiple first round picks in trade, especially in superflex. If you are looking to flatten out assets, or sell out and rebuild, Daniels can bring multiple quality pieces in a trade.

C.J. Stroud was one of the biggest names in dynasty after his rookie season – capable of netting multiple high-value assets. Stroud is now a mid-range QB (QB10 in Keep Trade Cut’s dynasty rankings) after being a top-five QB last offseason. Daniels is insulated from a precipitous value drop like that because of his rushing ability (891 yards and six TDs last season), but if you can get top dollar, you should trade him while the market is hot.

Saquon Barkley | RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Saquon Barkley is coming off a career year in which he hit the explosives and was a fantasy MVP. Dynasty gamers have a lot of trust in Barkley after he recorded 25 (No. 1) Breakaway Runs last season.

Dynasty managers also have faith in the Eagles’ organization and offensive line (No. 1 Run Blocking Rating in 2024). All that adds up to the rare 28-year-old running back you can sell for a first-round-pick-plus. That’s a no-brainer if you’re rebuilding and maybe even if you’re not. Tier down to a younger running back like James Cook or Kenneth Walker and get multiple draft picks on top.

Bucky Irving | RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bucky Irving is one of the hottest running backs in dynasty after a rookie season in which he usurped Rachaad White as the Bucs’ lead back. Dynasty gamers are typically reticent about buying running backs due to injury risk and short shelf-life, so it’s a good idea to consider selling while their perceived value is high. Irving is just such a player. He had a great 2024, with 4.94 (No. 2) Yards Created Per Touch, but if you can get a first round pick, it’s time to cash out.

Brian Thomas Jr. | WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

There aren’t too many pass catchers with more sheen than Brian Thomas Jr. The rookie recorded a 2.55 (No. 8) Yards Per Route Run number in 2024, but benefited from injuries to all of Jacksonville’s other pass catchers.

The pass catchers who played the most snaps behind Thomas (79.9-percent Snap Share) were Parker Washington and Brenton Strange. Thomas earned 133 targets, but I’ve seen him go for the 1.01 in a dynasty league. That means it’s time to put him on the trade block.

Davante Adams | WR, Los Angeles Rams

There hasn’t been much of a trade market for Davante Adams for a number of years now. He has been playing with Derek Carr and Aidan O’Connell in Vegas. There was a little bump in Adams’ value when he signed with the Jets and reunited with Aaron Rodgers. Whatever investment you made in him resulted in some league-winning weeks in 2024. Now that Adams has signed a two-year, $33 Million deal with the Rams to replace Cooper Kupp, however, he is even more marketable. There aren’t too many opportunities to sell 32-year-old wide receivers in dynasty. It’s time to get out.
