This is Dynasty Ups and Downs. Each week, I will present players to buy and sell (Dynasty trades to make) based on their evaluation in the Dynasty trading marketplace. As we all know, Dynasty fantasy football is an ever-changing landscape, and the best way to succeed is to stay one step ahead of the competition. This article aims to do just that.

Below, Seth Diewold gives guidance on dynasty trades to make – identifying players who are buys and sells in dynasty.
A Note on Week 5
Caleb Williams is coming off his best game and threw a pair of TDs to DJ Moore. He is still a buy for me in Dynasty because this offense is only going to get better as the season progresses. All players on the Dolphins remain buys even after a lackluster performance against the Patriots. It’s only a matter of time before Tua returns. Also, Garrett Wilson saw 22 targets. My guess is he keeps getting peppered.
Dynasty Buys
Tyreek Hill
For the second week in a row, I’m going to recommend kicking the tires on Tyreek Hill. This past week, Hill saw nine targets, and caught six passes for 69 yards. It’s only a matter of time before we get a big game from Hill. We know what he is capable of, and if you are a win now team, there is no better asset to acquire to help you win a championship than Hill.
Breece Hall
The Jets appear to be a mess. They fired their head coach this week at the behest of the quarterback. This is not a good look, but the schedule gets easier for the Jets going forward especially against the run:
- Bills (No. 26 in rushing yards allowed per game)
- Steelers (No. 5 in rushing yards allowed per game)
- Patriots (No. 13 in rushing yards allowed per game)
- Texans (No. 17 in rushing yards allowed per game)
- Cardinals (No. 28 in rushing yards allowed per game)
- Colts (No. 31 in rushing yards allowed per game)
The Jets are going to have to utilize the running game more going forward, and despite what we have seen from Braelon Allen, Breece Hall is still the lead running back. Take advantage of a Dynasty manager who might be panicking five weeks into the season.
Rome Odunze
Rome Odunze has already displayed the ability to get open down the field. The problem is that Caleb Williams is still developing, but Williams has gotten better every single week. It’s only a matter of time before Odunze has another breakout game. Also, Keenan Allen is likely not going to be back with the Bears next season. Odunze is the future WR2 in Chicago and has the upside to be a top-12 WR in fantasy football.
Dynasty Sells
Christian McCaffrey
At this point, I’m looking to sell all of my Christian McCaffrey shares. He is still valued as the RB10 according to KTC. Every league is different, but if I can cash out on a running back who is dealing with significant injuries who is also passed the age apex, I’m doing it.
I would trade McCaffrey for Jonathon Brooks, Derrick Henry plus, or Alvin Kamara plus if I need production now in Dynasty.
Travis Etienne
This pains me to admit, but it’s time to sell low on Travis Etienne. Tank Bigsby looks like the real deal. Bigsby ranks No. 3 amongst running backs in True Yards Per Carry and No. 1 in Breakaway Run Rate amongst running backs. Bigsby has led the Jaguars in rushing yards in three games this season. While Etienne is still serving as the primary pass catching running back, it sure looks like Bigsby is only going to earn more work going forward if he keeps playing as well as he is playing right now.
Stefon Diggs
Nico Collins is now on the IR, and it is time to cash out on Stefon Diggs. Currently, Diggs is the WR8 on the season, WR11 in fantasy points per game, and he’s only going to get more volume over the next four weeks. This is a great opportunity to get top-dollar for a wide receiver who is past the age of 30 years old.
When Collins returns, Diggs will go back to being a high volume WR 2 or 3.
Conclusion
When it comes to Dynasty buys and sells, some of the best moves are often the hardest to make. Staying one step ahead of the competition is important, and sometimes that means making moves that others will disagree with. That’s okay. Different people have different opinions about player values.
And while it is true that not every trade will work out, if you win more than you lose, chances are your Dynasty team will be successful in the long run. Stay tuned for more advice, and feel free to DM me any questions you may have on twitter (see the handle at the bottom of the page). Until next time, happy trading, and best of luck to your dynasty teams this season!
