Below, Bradley Stalder identifies premium fantasy football flex players for fantasy Week 14.
In this weekly flex plays article, I identify three players outside the top 50 projected FLEX starters who will “win” the FLEX. How do I define “winning” the FLEX position? If a player earns at least 12.5 points in half-point PPR scoring, that’s a “win.” Anything less is a loss. I also identify one player outside the top-100 in projected points for the week as my long-shot, double-or-nothing score. Throughout the season, I’ll offer players I think will “win” the FLEX each week, and update how I did last week as accountability.
Week 14 Record: 1-2
Running Records 19-27 , 41-percent
Amari Cooper | WR, Buffalo Bills
Amari Cooper is rostered on 96-percent of teams, and projected to start on 80-percent. He projects as the 53rd-highest FLEX player in Week 15. Since joining the Bills, Cooper has struggled to get going. Whether because of injuries, the trade, or Snap Share, fantasy managers have been frustrated with Cooper’s production — until now. Cooper set a season-high 14 targets in Week 14, and played the highest percentage of snaps with the Bills in the Week 14 contest. Cooper also caught six passes for a season-high 95 receiving yards. Every year, we see streaks from Cooper where he wins leagues for fantasy managers. Now is the time.
The Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions square off in Week 15, which is one of the highest projected game totals of the year. The Lions allow the No. 2 most fantasy points to wide receivers, and with Cooper coming in hot, expect more fireworks from the veteran wideout against a reeling Detroit defense.
Jordan Addison | WR, Minnesota Vikings
Jordan Addison’s rostered on 88-percent of teams and projected to start on 36-percent. He projects as the 66th-highest FLEX player for Week 15. Addison has earned at least eight targets in three of the last four games, and has exceeded 130 receiving yards in two of the last three games. Addison ranks No. 4 in total touchdowns, No. 12 in yards per target, No. 12 in yards per reception, No. 15 in yards per team pass attempt, and No. 18 in fantasy points per game.
The Minnesota Vikings are seven-point favorites at home against a roller coaster Chicago Bears team. Addison caught eight passes for 162 yards and a touchdown on nine targets in the last meeting against the Bears. Expect another big push from the Vikings’ second year receiver in Week 15.
Jameson Williams | WR, Detroit Lions
Jameson Williams is rostered on 77-percent of teams, and projected to start on 13-percent. Williams projects as the 68th-highest FLEX player for Week 15. The volume has returned for Williams in the second half of the season. Williams has earned at least eight opportunities over the last three weeks, and has earned at least five targets in five straight games since his suspension. Williams ranks No. 5 in yards per reception, No. 6 in explosive rating, No. 7 in yards per target, No. 11 in yards after catch, and No. 23 in yards per route run. There’s arguably no more explosive player in the NFL than Jameson Williams.
The Lions and Bills should stack up to be a great fantasy matchup. While the Bills allow the No. 30 most fantasy points to wide receivers, Rasul Douglas has been a plus matchup this year, allowing the No.6 highest NFL Passer rating against among 79 qualified cornerbacks playing at least 270 snaps.
Deep Cut: Kendre Miller | RB, New Orleans Saints
Kendre Miller is rostered on 19-percent of teams and projected to start on 1-percent. He projects as the 149th-highest FLEX player for Week 15, per Sleeper. Miller is freed! Dennis Allen is no longer the coach in New Orleans, and Miller stepped right up in Week 14, earned 26-percent of snaps and 10 carries along with a target out of the New Orleans backfield. The Saints have been looking for someone to spell Kamara, and with Taysom Hill out for the season with a torn ACL, Miller plugs right in.
The Commanders allow the No. 16 most fantasy points to running backs and the No. 13 most receiving points to running backs on the season. Neither of these stats move the needle for Miller from a matchup perspective, but it may give Miller more opportunity in the passing game given. Washington are seven-point favorites and the Saints will be without Derek Carr for the remainder of the season. Expect Miller to ramp up his involvement another week removed from the IR.
