Amon-Ra St. Brown – Mike Lindberg

Amon-Ra St. Brown is poised to skyrocket into the WR1 overall territory for the 2024 fantasy football season. This is backed by an impressive track record and an ideal team environment. With three consecutive seasons of 90+ receptions, St. Brown hit a peak in 2023 with a standout performance of 112 catches, 1,371 yards, and nine touchdowns. His ability to consistently deliver at an elite level positions him as a cornerstone for fantasy success.

In the Detroit Lions’ offense, St. Brown commands a substantial 30-percent share of targets, highlighting his integral role as Jared Goff‘s go-to receiver. This level of target dominance not only ensures his productivity but also suggests potential for even greater output in the upcoming season. Securing a lucrative 4-year, $120 million contract extension underscores his importance to Detroit’s offensive strategy. This is coupled with the stability provided by head coach Dan Campbell and a developing supporting cast.

Ja’Marr Chase faces significant uncertainties in the fantasy landscape despite occasional brilliance. He has struggled with consistency and endured injuries.  While showing promise with quarterback Joe Burrow, concerns persist over their ability to maintain consistent high-level production. This is exacerbated by Burrow’s own injury history.

For those seeking a safer bet in drafts, Amon-Ra St. Brown emerges as the clear choice. His proven ability to thrive in his role, coupled with a stable team environment and surging rapport with Jared Goff, positions him as a valuable asset poised to exceed expectations in the 2024 season. St. Brown’s reliability and potential for continued growth make him a superior value pick. Ja’Marr Chase is a much riskier bet. This makes St. Brown a steal at his current fantasy football ADP and a must draft over Ja’Marr Chase

Ja’Marr Chase – Jonathan Lange

Ja’Marr Chase has been a fantasy gold mine. He’s averaged 18 fantasy points per game over his three years in the NFL. In 2023, Joe Burrow came into the season with a calf strain. This severely limited his production. He later missed time due to a wrist injury. Chase endured and finished as WR 11 even with an injured Burrow or backup Jake Browning.

Tyler Boyd averaged 615 slot snaps over the previous two seasons in Cincinnati. Boyd is now in Tennessee. The Bengals drafted Jermaine Burton. However, he was deployed as an outside receiver at Alabama. Meanwhile, Chase has experienced an increase in slot snaps over the past three years. This situation is eerily similar to CeeDee Lamb in 2023. In 2023, Lamb eclipsed a 50-percent slot rate. Lamb shared the field with only Brandin Cooks and Jake Ferguson as target competition. Slot rates provided a massive boost to Lamb’s production.

Chase is at the end of his rookie contract. Therefore, we have additional incentive playing for a massive payday like his college teammate Justin Jefferson. Additionally, Amon-Ra St. Brown was recently paid. While he is the top target in his offense, the Lions rushing attack will command more rushes compared to the Bengals rushing attack. Also, the Lions defense should allow fewer shootout matchups than the leaky Bengals defense. With a completely healthy Joe Burrow, Chase is locked in to finish as the target hog on a top 10 passing offense.
