Below, Tyler Knaeble highlights fantasy RBs to stream for Week 4 of fantasy football.
We are back for Week 3 of Running Back Risers and we are in for a treat as we have three RBs we are going to breakdown in this article! Buckle up.
Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers: 75-percent owned
This Chuba Hubbard blurb isn’t anything you haven’t heard before. We know he’s a good football player when given the opportunity. His problem over the first two weeks was he was given no opportunity given how bad their offense was with Bryce Young. The Panthers were also down by large deficits early in both games. That all changed last weekend after Andy Dalton was named the starter.
Hubbard had 16 carries, 78 rushing yards and four receptions over the first two games COMBINED. In just Week 3 alone, Hubbard had 21 carries, 114 rushing yards and five receptions.
Head Coach and play caller Dave Canales has always said he wants to run the ball. Canales was even quoted last weekend saying he has a lot of Pete Carroll tendencies in him. With the 0-3 Cincinnati Bengals next up on their schedule, I think we can expect a somewhat competitive game. Hubbard should be given a normal workload.
This isn’t a “go pick up Chuba Hubbard” writeup, that much is obvious. This is a “go start Chuba Hubbard” writeup.
Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears: 4-percent Owned
From being a healthy scratch in Week 1 to having 12 touches in Week 3, Roschon Johnson is starting to show signs of life. His biggest obstacle to touches was always going to be Khalil Herbert. This past weekend, we saw Johnson out-touch Herbert 12 to four. Furthermore, with the way D’Andre Swift has been playing lately, I think there’s a path to Johnson becoming the RB1 in the Bears offense.
Through three games, Swift is averaging 1.83 yards per carry on 37 carries. That is absolutely awful. Granted, the o-line play in Chicago has been very poor as well, but in his first game getting a decent amount of carries, Johnson averaged 3.75 yards per carry. That’s the ONLY game where a Chicago RB has averaged more than three yards per carry.
Lastly, Swift, if just not a goal line back, has just two carries inside the 20-yard line and one carry inside the 5-yard line. He has gained a grand total of -8 yards on those carries. Johnson is without a doubt the biggest and most physical back on the team and I would be shocked if he wasn’t getting those carries from here on out.
Johnson is a must roster in all formats right now.
Emanuel Wilson, Green Bay Packers: 6-percent Owned
With rookie MarShawn Lloyd on the IR, Emanuel Wilson has really stepped up for the Packers offense, especially last weekend. Wilson finished with 12 carries and two catches for 85 total yards and a touchdown against the Titans. Most notably, he almost out-touched Josh Jacobs. Jacobs had 15 total touches, but just 48 total yards. I’m not saying Jacobs is going to lose his job to Wilson, but this LaFluer offense has always featured two running backs. Even when Lloyd does come back, there’s no guarantee he takes the job away from Wilson.
Going into Week 4, the Packers will host the Minnesota Vikings at home. The Vikings D has allowed the fifth-least points to RBs so far this season. I wouldn’t say Wilson is a must-start this week given the matchup, but he should definitely be rostered in most leagues. I get the sense Wilson will have some spot-starts throughout the season given the fragile nature of the running back position.
