This is my NFL Mock Draft 3.0! Here is my 3-rounder, Top 100 Picks!
We are now officially less than four weeks away from the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, Michigan. I will be in Detroit with the PlayerProfiler team broadcasting for all three days live from their draft house. I am here today, however, to bring you the fifth iteration of my 2024 NFL Mock Draft Series. As in prior years, the Mock Draft Series will add one round per iteration with Mock 8.0 coming the night before the 2024 NFL Draft, Live from Detroit.
This mock is built on research done across media in an attempt to hit on the 32 players that are expected to be drafted in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft followed by landing spots that make the most sense based on need/history and fit for the following four rounds. Picks will change over the next two mock drafts, and teams will trade between now and April, but if you were here for my 2023 Mock 1.0, I hit on four team matches and the No. 1 overall pick, Bryce Young in Mock 1.0 on December 1st, 2022. Today my target is to match 20 players to the teams they will be drafted by in April. Look for my notations (M) throughout the mock.
Round 1 – (Pick 1-32)
No. 1 – Chicago Bears – Caleb Williams, QB – USC
The landing spot is all but a lock at this point. Chicago has done the dishes, taken out the trash, vacuumed the guest house, and is ready to hand over the keys.
No. 2 – Washington Commanders – Jayden Daniels, QB – LSU
If you had a second shot, a second opportunity… to draft a dynamic Heisman trophy winner as your franchise quarterback, would you let it slip?
No. 3 – New England Patriots – J.J. McCarthy, QB – Michigan
Many are expecting Minnesota to be in play for McCarthy at No. 4 overall via a trade-up. “Not so fast my friend.”
No. 4 – Minnesota Vikings via ARZ – Drake Maye, QB – North Carolina
(TRADE): Everybody knows the connection here, between Josh McCown and Drake Maye, Josh McCown and Sam Darnold. This is the preferred move by Minnesota, move up to No. 4 overall and get the No. 1 player on your board.
No. 5 – Tennessee Titans via LAC – Joe Alt, T – Notre Dame
(TRADE): Protecting Will Levis and giving him the weaponry needed to be as successful as possible is the only mission. Peter Skoronski in 2023, and Joe Alt in 2024 does just that on the offensive line.
No. 6 – New York Giants – Marvin Harrison Jr., WR – Ohio State
The Giants are gifted the best receiver in the class, according to many.
No. 7 – Los Angeles Chargers via TEN – Jared Verse, EDGE – Florida St.
(TRADE): Questions surrounding Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa being on the team in 2024 were raised during free agency. Both are still Chargers, for now.
No. 8 – Arizona Cardinals via ATL – Malik Nabers, WR – LSU
(TRADE): The Cardinals masterclass in trading down and back up pays off with Malik Nabers making it past the Chargers.
No. 9 – Chicago Bears – Olu Fashanu, T – Penn State
Protect your franchise quarterback with Fashanu, who was once considered a Top 2 player in the NFL Draft.
No. 10 – New York Jets – Rome Odunze, WR – Washington
Tackle is an option, but the Jets signed Morgan Moses and Tyron Smith this past week. Opening the door for the addition of a weapon, in Odunze.
No. 11 – Atlanta Falcons via ARZ – Byron Murphy II, DT – Texas
(TRADE): If the Falcons can crush the 2024 NFL Draft, they might not just win the NFC South, but actually push towards the NFC Championship. Pairing Murphy with Grady Jarrett is step 1.
No. 12 – Denver Broncos – Terrion Arnold, CB – Alabama
Patrick Surtain + Terrion Arnold = The Alabama Seatbelt
No. 13 – Las Vegas Raiders – Quinyon Mitchell, CB – Toledo
If you asked 20 analysts, scouts, or coaches, what team needs cornerback the most, the Raiders would be the overwhelming answer. They are getting my favorite in the class, Quinyon Mitchell.
No. 14 – New Orleans Saints – Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB – Alabama
McKinstry’s stock has been depressed over the last six months, but he played through injury and was targeted less than Terrion Arnold while performing just as well if not better.
No. 15 – Indianapolis Colts – Dallas Turner, EDGE – Alabama
Not quite the prospect that Will Anderson was in 2023, but Turner is right there, and the Colts need a strong rush off of the edge.
No. 16 – Seattle Seahawks – Chop Robinson, EDGE – Penn State
The NFL Draft is a flat circle with Chop Robinson. He goes just one pick after Dallas Turner.
No. 17 – Jacksonville Jaguars – J.C. Latham, T – Alabama
This is too low for Latham. I would not be shocked if the Chargers move down closer to No. 10 overall and pull the trigger.
No. 18 – Cincinnati Bengals – Brock Bowers, TE – Georgia
The expectation that Brock Bowers is drafted in the top 8 needs to cool a bit. He is very talented and going to be great in the NFL. However, that draft capital for a tight end is something you are extremely unlikely to see again in the NFL.
No. 19 – Los Angeles Rams – Graham Barton, OL – Duke
The Rams need to continue rebuilding the offensive line. What better way than to draft the most versatile lineman in the class?
No. 20 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Amarius Mims, T – Georgia
In 2023 the Steelers drafted Georgia offensive tackle, Broderick Jones with the No. 14 overall selection. In 2024 they can move Jones to left tackle and draft his college teammate to play right tackle.
No. 21 – Miami Dolphins – Xavier Worthy, WR – Texas
“speed… Speed… and SPEED, those are our wide receivers now” – probably Mike McDaniel
No. 22 – Philadelphia Eagles – Nate Wiggins, CB – Clemson
With Darius Slay and James Bradberry both over the age of 30, it’s time for some young speed to rejuvenate the defense.
No. 23 – Arizona Cardinals via MIN – Laiatu Latu, EDGE – UCLA
(TRADE): Latu is still a bit of a question mark from a health standpoint. There is no news on whether medicals at the NFL Combine left teams worried or not. The Cardinals get a sick value on a top-10 talent in the class when healthy.
No. 24 – Dallas Cowboys – Taliese Fuaga, OL – Oregon State
The most interesting fall of the draft comes from Taliese Fuaga, the soon-to-be 22-year-old who should like his new home in Texas.
No. 25 – Green Bay Packers – Johnny Newton, DT – Illinois
The Packers don’t need a ton, but Johnny NewTON brings an element to the defensive line that aligns with Kenny Clark.
No. 26 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Troy Fautanu, OL – Washington
The seventh offensive lineman in Round 1 comes off of the board with a projection to move inside to Guard.
No. 27 – Arizona Cardinals via HST – Darius Robinson, DL – Missouri
Monti Ossenfort is in line for Executive of the Year if he pulls off a Round 1 of Malik Nabers, Laiatu Latu, and Darius Robinson.
No. 28 – Buffalo Bills – Braden Fiske, DL – Florida State
Fiske’s pre-draft process has been a maniacal one, beginning with a dominant ACC Championship, Senior Bowl, and sick NFL Combine.
No. 29 – Detroit Lions – Brian Thomas, WR – LSU
Many are expecting the Bills or Dolphins to target Thomas in Round 1; however, the Bills have multiple needs, and the Dolphins choose Xavier Worthy ahead of Thomas. All of a sudden, Detroit has a 4×100 team playing at Ford Field in 2024.
No. 30 – Los Angeles Rams via BAL – Michael Penix Jr., QB – Washington
(TRADE): Las Vegas, Denver, New York… Nope, the Rams trade up for the fifth and final quarterback in Round 1.
No. 31 – San Francisco 49ers – Tyler Guyton, T – Oklahoma
14 years ago, the 49ers drafted an offensive tackle from Oklahoma. They repeat that in 2024 in hopes of finding the next stalwart on their offensive line.
No. 32 – Kansas City Chiefs – Cooper DeJean, CB – Iowa
Not the juicy pick everyone was expecting with a wide receiver, but the rich get richer after DeJean misses the entire pre-draft process and falls into their lap.
Round 2 – (Pick 33-64)
No. 33 – Carolina Panthers – Bralen Trice, EDGE – Washington
No. 34 – New England Patriots – Jordan Morgan, T – Arizona
No. 35 – Arizona Cardinals – Jackson Powers-Johnson, C – Oregon
No. 36 – Washington Commanders – Patrick Paul, T – Houston
No. 37 – Los Angeles Chargers – Kingsley Suamataia, T – BYU
No. 38 – Tennessee Titans – T.J. Tampa, CB – Iowa State
No. 39 – Carolina Panthers via NYG – Troy Franklin, WR – Oregon (M)
No. 40 – Washington Commanders via CHI – Chris Braswell, EDGE – Alabama (M)
No. 41 – Green Bay Packers via NYJ – Javon Bullard, S – Georgia
No. 42 – Houston Texans via MIN – T’Vondre Sweat, DL – Texas (M)
No. 43 – Atlanta Falcons – Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB – Missouri
No. 44 – Las Vegas Raiders – Zach Frazier, C – West Virginia
No. 45 – New Orleans Saints via DEN – Adonai Mitchell, WR – Texas
No. 46 – Indianapolis Colts – Tyler Nubin, S – Minnesota
No. 47 – New York Giants via SEA – Brandon Dorlus, DL – Oregon
No. 48 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Ricky Pearsall, WR – Florida
No. 49 – Cincinnati Bengals – Kris Jenkins, DL – Michigan
No. 50 – Philadelphia Eagles via NO – Kiran Amegadjie, T – Yale
No. 51 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Kamari Lassiter, CB – Georgia
No. 52 – Baltimore Ravens via LAR – Khyree Jackson, CB – Oregon
No. 53 – Philadelphia Eagles – Payton Wilson, LB – North Carolina State
No. 54 – Cleveland Browns – Michael Hall Jr., DL – Ohio State
No. 55 – Miami Dolphins – Leonard Taylor III, DL – Miami, FL
No. 56 – Dallas Cowboys – Jaylen Wright, RB – Tennessee (M)
No. 57 – Las Vegas Raiders via TB – Spencer Rattler, QB – South Carolina
(TRADE): Throughout the process, I have found myself more and more impressed with Rattler’s growth. I would not be shocked if he is drafted before Bo Nix.
No. 58 – Green Bay Packers – Dominick Puni, T – Kansas
No. 59 – Houston Texans – Renardo Green, CB – Florida State
No. 60 – Buffalo Bills – Ladd McConkey, WR – Georgia
No. 61 – Detroit Lions – Christian Haynes, OL – Connecticut (M)
No. 62 – Baltimore Ravens – Keon Coleman, WR – Florida State
No. 63 – San Francisco 49ers – Roman Wilson, WR – Michigan
No. 64 – Kansas City Chiefs – Khristian Boyd, DL – Northern Iowa (M)
Round 3 – (Pick 65-100)
No. 65 – Carolina Panthers – Blake Fisher, T – Notre Dame
No. 66 – Arizona Cardinals – D.J. James, CB – Auburn
No. 67 – Washington Commanders – Adisa Isaac, EDGE – Penn State
No. 68 – New England Patriots – Mike Sainristill, CB – Michigan
No. 69 – Denver Broncos via LAC – Bo Nix, QB – Oregon
No. 70 – New York Giants – Trey Benson, RB – Florida State
No. 71 – Minnesota Vikings via ARZ – Jonah Elliss, EDGE – Utah
No. 72 – New York Jets – Mason McCormick, OL – South Dakota State
No. 73 – Detroit Lions via MIN – Marshawn Kneeland, EDGE – Western Michigan
No. 74 – Atlanta Falcons – Ben Sinnott, TE – Kansas State
No. 75 – Chicago Bears – Austin Booker, EDGE – Kansas
No. 76 – Los Angeles Chargers via DEN – Jonathon Brooks, RB – Texas
No. 77 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers via LV – Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB – Clemson (M)
No. 78 – Washington Commanders via SEA – Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE – Texas (M)
No. 79 – Atlanta Falcons via JAX – Javon Solomon, EDGE – Troy
No. 80 – Cincinnati Bengals – Christian Jones, T – Texas
No. 81 – Seattle Seahawks via NO – Edgerrin Cooper, LB – Texas A&M
No. 82 – Indianapolis Colts – Xavier Legette, WR – South Carolina
No. 83 – Los Angeles Rams – Jaden Hicks, S – Washington State
No. 84 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Javon Baker, WR – Central Florida (M)
No. 85 – Chicago Bears via CLV – Brenden Rice, WR – USC
* – Miami Dolphins – FORFEITED SELECTION
No. 86 – Houston Texans via PHI – Cade Stover, TE – Ohio State
No. 87 – Dallas Cowboys – Devontez Walker, WR – North Carolina
No. 88 – Green Bay Packers – Jarvis Brownlee Jr., CB – Louisville
No. 89 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Will Shipley, RB – Clemson
