Below, Joel Ybarra highlights all the best performances by NFL rookies in Week 11 of NFL action.
Week 11 is behind us, and 2024 rookies are starting to come into their own. The top performers in the draft class are separating themselves from the field, establishing themselves as key contributors on their teams. Jayden Daniels was the standout through the first half of the season, but other QBs are now hitting their strides and showing themselves as potential cornerstones for their respective franchises. Let’s take a look at some quality performances from Week 11 at all the fantasy relevant positions.
Rookie Performance of the Week
Bo Nix | QB, Denver Broncos
28/33-307-4 passing
Bo Nix has shown flashes of being able to command Sean Payton’s offense early this season, but in Week 11, he put it all together. Nix threw four touchdowns as the Broncos dominated the Falcons 38-6. The Denver defense did their job, allowing Nix to look comfortable. The rookie QB had the first 300-yard game and first four-touchdown game of his young career. Even while piecing together its offensive weapons, the Broncos look like a live offense capable of competing with the league’s best teams.
Other Notable Rookie Performances
Brock Bowers | TE, Las Vegas Raiders
13/16-126-1 receiving
If it weren’t for Nix’s impressive performance, Brock Bowers would have easily earned the Performance of the Week here. He led all pass catchers in Week 11 (pending MNF) with 16 targets. Bowers is No. 6 in targets among all pass catchers with 89.
And even though Bowers is getting a lot of short area balls (5.2 ADOT), he is averaging 10.1 yards per reception meaning he is No. 9 in the league among all positions with 385 Yards After Catch. Bowers is more than delivering on the promise that he was one of the 2024 draft class’s most talented offensive weapons.
Rome Odunze | WR, Chicago Bears
6/10-65 receiving
It is no secret the Bears’ offense has been impotent for several weeks, but they fired their offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, before Week 11. New OC Thomas Brown had the offensive looking better Sunday versus a tough Packers D. Rome Odunze had his second double-digit target day with 10. If the offense continues to pull itself together and Odunze and Caleb Williams continue to forge a connection, Odunze will produce in a big way.
Xavier Worthy | WR, Kansas City Chiefs
4/5-61-1 receiving
Xavier Worthy showed a connection with Patrick Mahomes early on Sunday versus the Bills, connecting four times, including Worthy’s fourth touchdown of the season at the beginning of the second quarter. The speedy rookie is still leaving points on the field, however. He failed to get two feet down in-bounds on a 40-yard deep shot in the second quarter. There is still meat on the bone with Worthy in the Chiefs’ offense.
Caleb Williams | QB, Chicago Bears
23/31, 213 passing, 9-70 rushing
Caleb Williams had a much better day Sunday with a new offensive play caller. While the rookie overall No. 1 pick did not pass for any touchdowns, he did show improvements navigating the pocket and using his athletic ability to make gains on the ground.
The Packers sacked Williams only three times after he was sacked six and nine times his previous two outings. Williams also racked up 70 yards on nine attempts rushing, opting to make significant gains running downfield rather than circling in the pocket and getting sacked.
Brian Thomas Jr. | WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
5/7-82 receiving
The Jaguars and Mac Jones made a concerted effort to get Brian Thomas Jr. more involved after the rookie wideout had not received more than four targets in three straight games. Thomas caught five of his seven targets and went for 82 yards, even while the Jaguars ran into a buzz saw in the Detroit Lions.
Ladd McConkey | WR, Los Angeles Chargers
6/9-123 receiving
Ladd McConkey played a big part in the Chargers’ success in a wild Sunday night duel between the 2020 Draft class’s finest: Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert. Along with Will Dissly, McConkey is Herbert’s most consistent target. With the Chargers’ pass game heating up (Herbert has 270-plus yards passing in four of his last five) and the Chargers in contention (7-3), McConkey could be in for some huge days down the stretch.
Drake Maye | QB, New England Patriots
30/40-282-2 passing, 3-27 rushing
The Patriots have let Drake Maye loose on the league. He threw 40 passes on Sunday versus the Rams, completing 30 for 282 yards and two TDs.
The North Carolina product also added 27 yards on the ground and looks more comfortable by the week commanding the offense. He doesn’t get frazzled, and his athleticism allows him to avoid sacks and threaten the defense running.
Other Key Usage Notes
Devaughn Vele | WR, Denver Broncos– 24 routes (second-most on team), 4/5-66 receiving
