PlayerProfiler vs RosterWatch | 1QB Rookie Mock Draft

by Cody Carpentier · Draft Strategy

If you couldn’t get enough of the PlayerProfiler vs RosterWatch rivalry, we’re back with the second installment in the Summer of Collaboration series of fantasy football mock drafts with RosterWatch.

After the PlayerProfiler took Round 1 of the rookie draft series per my completely unbiased domination, Round 2 saw us continue down the 1QB scoring format (per my mistake, forgetting we already did 1QB) But this time we did jumble up the Draft order better. The draft started on Monday, April 11th, during Post-NFL Pro Days, Combine, and testing.

Did the Underworld successfully defend the mock drafting crown? Did anyone plant any outrageous flags? Who actually wins in a mock draft of any sort? If there is a way to win, you can bet that the six mock drafters on the Underworld side of the ledger will ride PlayerProfiler’s advanced stats, metrics, and analytics all the way to a successful defense of the mock drafting heavyweight championship of the world.

1.01 – Breece Hall, RB – Iowa State

Analyst: Bennett Karoll (@thebennettk) (Team RosterWatch)

1.02 – Kenneth Walker, RB – Michigan State

Analyst: Byron Lambert (@AngelFire_Games) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: Had to get my dude in one of these mock drafts.

1.03 – Garrett Wilson, WR – Ohio State

Analyst: Ray Ray Marz (@rayraymarz) (Team Underworld)

1.04 – Treylon Burks, WR – Arkansas

Analyst: The Podfather (@Fantasy_Mansion) (Team Underworld)

1.05 – Drake London, WR – USC

Analyst: Shane Seeley (@TheFlexNetwork1) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: Often mocked as the first WR off the board, the upside is tantalizing with London. He is expected to test later this week in a private workout. Those numbers could be a big factor in the order in which he is drafted. Pretty much a round 1 lock.

1.06 – Chris Olave, WR – Ohio State

Analyst: Cody Carpentier (@CarpentierNFL) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: The best route runner in the draft, Olave is a separation savant and was prolific all four years at Ohio State.

1.07 – Jameson Williams, WR – Alabama

Analyst: Ani Sridhar (@anisri23) (Team RosterWatch)

1.08 – Rachaad White, RB – Arizona State

Analyst: Andy Mlyniec (@ffdataking) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: I hate this pick. I hate it with every fiber of my being. This guy screams Brandon Aiyuk. Flash in the pan the first year and then poof into the wind. That said I can’t take the WR I want this early.

1.09 – George Pickens, WR – Georgia

Analyst: Nate Liss (@AnOutragedJew) (Team Underworld)

1.10 – Jahan Dotson, WR – Penn State

Analyst: Aaron Stewart (@aaronstew09) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: Elijah Moore was my rookie crush WR last season and Jahan Dotson is my rookie crush WR this year. I clearly have a type.

1.11 – Christian Watson, WR – North Dakota State

Analyst: The Trashman (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: Size/speed freak whose only mistake was playing at NDSU

1.12 – Isaiah Spiller, RB – Texas A&M

Analyst: Alex Dunlap (@AlexDunlapNFL) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: This is an absolutely gross pick to have to make – would be traded away in an actual draft.

Round 1 Recap

The Biggest Value: There was no clear-cut value picks in Round 1, per the PlayerProfiler.com Rookie Rankings. Pick 1-8 were identical to the Rookie Rankings. However, from 9-12, a lot of things will change depending on who you are drafting with, and how dedicated they are to the process. The Round 1 value pick goes to Alex Dunlap of RosterWatch for the selection of Isaiah Spiller at 1.12. Spiller is a tantalizing prospect from Texas A&M that started the process as the 1.01 for some people and has been seen falling to as late as the 2.05.

The Biggest Reach: Christian Watson has been one of the most talked-about small school prospects in the last decade. From his incredible performance at the Senior Bowl, showing phenomenal body movement and ability to his demeanor in interviews he killed it. At the NFL Combine, he took another step exploding onto the scene with a 4.36 40-yard dash and 98th-percentile Speed Score, paired with a 96th-percentile Catch Radius, he can truly do it all. Watson has been mocked as high as No. 22 overall to Green Bay, but it is yet to be seen if a team will spend first round draft capital on the 23-year-old that never crested 1,000 receiving yards.

Who Wins Round 1?

  • PlayerProfiler wins 10-9

Round 2

2.01 – Malik Willis, QB – Liberty

Analyst: Bennett Karoll (@thebennettk) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: I’ll bite the bullet and take the first QB. I like Willis and landing-spot dependent he could be a fantasy viable option this year

2.02 – Brian Robinson, RB – Alabama

Analyst: Byron Lambert (@AngelFire_Games) (Team RosterWatch)

2.03 – Skyy Moore, WR – Western Michigan

Analyst: Ray Ray Marz (@rayraymarz) (Team Underworld)

Top Rope GIFs | Tenor

2.04 – Zamir White, RB – Georgia

Analyst: The Podfather (@Fantasy_Mansion) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: We win.

Zamir White Advanced Stats & Metrics Profile

2.05 – David Bell, WR – Purdue

Analyst: Shane Seeley (@TheFlexNetwork1) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: This one was hard as there was a clear tier break at this pick. Bell didn’t have the athletic testing like we would have hoped but he performs in-game and is projected to get Round 2 draft capital. What wins it for me is his player comp to Anquan Boldin, who was a beast in the NFL.

2.06 – Dameon Pierce, RB – Florida

Analyst: Cody Carpentier (@CarpentierNFL) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: Pierce has been killing the process ever since the Senior Bowl. This is one of those situations as a player, all you can do is the most of the opportunity! He has the Kamara/Lynch/Ingram personality – and just happened to have gotten screwed out of opportunities due to unforeseen drama at Florida. 2022 NFL Third Round Pick… Dameon Pierce. Count him out – I dare ya.

2.07 – Justyn Ross, WR – Clemson

Analyst: Ani Sridhar (@anisri23) (Team RosterWatch)

2.08 – Sam Howell, QB – North Carolina

Analyst: Andy Mlyniec (@ffdataking) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: Big time reach, but the players around here are questionable at best. Gimme the guy who was productive his entire career. The guy who put the team on his back. saying that he’s Baker Mayfield is the same thing as saying Max Borghi is Christian McCaffrey. Lazy analysis.

2.09 – James Cook, RB – Georgia

Analyst: Nate Liss (@AnOutragedJew) (Team Underworld)

2.10 – Kevin Harris, RB – South Carolina

Analyst: Aaron Stewart (@aaronstew09) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: If I selected two non-RBs in the first two rounds of this rookie draft, then my PlayerProfiler contract would be voided. I’ve gotta do what’s in my best interest.

2.11 – Trey McBride, TE – Colorado State

Analyst: The Trashman (Team RosterWatch)

2.12 – Jalen Tolbert, WR – South Alabama

Analyst: Alex Dunlap (@AlexDunlapNFL) (Team RosterWatch)

Round 2 Recap

The Biggest Value: Skyy Moore!! Ray Ray comes off the top rope with the 450 Frog Splash on team RosterWatch, snagging Skyy Moore at 2.03. As much as we would have loved to see Skyy come in at 200-pounds, we know from the last few years that even guys like Justin Jefferson that entered at 200 actually play under 190. So sometimes the Combine weights can be skewed to look good for teams. Moore declared early from Western Michigan after posting a 99th-percentile College Target Share and 90th-percentile College Dominator Rating. As if that wasn’t enough, our guy his a 4.41 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.

The Biggest Reach: Team RosterWatch does the reach thing again, taking Justyn Ross at the 2.07. Ross is ranked No. 48 overall on the PlayerProfiler Rookie Rankings and can be seen coming off the board around pick 3.01-3.03 in PlayerProfiler Mock Drafts. After dealing with a neck injury during his time at Clemson, Ross has slowed returned to form, and rather than skipping testing he may have nuked his NFL Draft capital with a 4.69 40-yard dash and weighing just 210-pounds at 6-4. Tread lightly with drafting big clashing wide receivers that lack speed and true alpha size. This one screams Terrace Marshall without the athleticism.

Who Wins Round 2?

  • PlayerProfiler wins 10-9

3.01 – Alec Pierce, WR – Cincinnati

Analyst: Bennett Karoll (@thebennettk) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: You guys mocked me last time and then he dropped that Combine.

3.02 – Pierre Strong, RB – South Dakota State

Analyst: Byron Lambert (@AngelFire_Games) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: Potential steal of the draft. Dude is nasty.

3.03 – Calvin Austin, WR – Memphis

Analyst: Ray Ray Marz (@rayraymarz) (Team Underworld)

3.04 – Jerome Ford, RB – Cincinnati

Analyst: The Podfather (@Fantasy_Mansion) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: Podfather owns Ford in all formats!

Jerome Ford Advanced Stats & Metrics Profile

3.05 – John Metchie, WR – Alabama

Analyst: Shane Seeley (@TheFlexNetwork1) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: We didn’t get testing numbers for Metchie but banking on the production numbers in college alongside Williams

3.06 – Tyler Badie, RB – Missouri

Analyst: Cody Carpentier (@CarpentierNFL) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: I like a couple of different Tyler’s at this pick, but the one I have the most confidence in, is Tyler Badie. 4.45 40-yard dash at 197-pounds, fitting in the Giovani Bernard/Duke Johnson comparable family, Badie’s play style reminds me of Michael Carter. Smash that button

3.07 – Kyren Williams, RB – Notre Dame

Analyst: Ani Sridhar (@anisri23) (Team RosterWatch)

3.08 – Tyler Goodson, RB – Iowa

Analyst: Andy Mlyniec (@ffdataking) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: A Midwest 9 is still an East Coast 7. I’ll take that in the third round.

3.09 – Desmond Ridder, QB – Cincinnati

Analyst: Nate Liss (@AnOutragedJew) (Team Underworld)

3.10 – Kenny Pickett, QB – Pittsburgh

Analyst: Aaron Stewart (@aaronstew09) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: We might not have gotten Malik Willis…but we got the rest of the QBs mwahaha.

3.11 – Wan’Dale Robinson, WR – Kentucky

Analyst: The Trashman (Team RosterWatch)

3.12 – Tyler Allgeier, RB – BYU

Analyst: Alex Dunlap (@AlexDunlapNFL) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: This is the worst mock draft I’ve ever done. Every pick has put me in a brutal spot.

Round 3 Recap

The Biggest Value: Potentially the biggest value in every single 2022 rookie draft, regardless of when/where, or how you draft. Desmond Ridder will continue to fall because people hate him. Ridder won 44 games at Cincinnati, threw for over 10,000 yards, and is currently training with Jordan Palmer (also coaches Joe Burrow and Josh Allen). Ridder will be a 10-year starter in the NFL, even with a ceiling of Jalen Hurts, his floor is Jimmy Garoppolo and in this class. That is a smash in Round 3.

The Biggest Reach: Alec Pierce. Wan’Dale Robinson. End of Sentence.

Who Wins Round 3?

  • PlayerProfiler wins 10-7

Round 4

4.01 – Romeo Doubs, WR – Nevada

Analyst: Bennett Karoll (@thebennettk) (Team RosterWatch)

Romeo Doubs Advanced Stats & Metrics Profile

4.02 – Ty Chandler, RB – North Carolina

Analyst: Byron Lambert (@AngelFire_Games) (Team RosterWatch)

4.03 – Keaontay Ingram, RB – USC

Analyst: Ray Ray Marz (@rayraymarz) (Team Underworld)

4.04 – Max Borghi, RB – Washington State

Analyst: The Podfather (@Fantasy_Mansion) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: This is the best mock draft I’ve ever done. Every pick has put me in a perfect spot for a smooth and easy lay-up.

4.05 – Isiah Pacheco, RB – Rutgers

Analyst: Shane Seeley (@TheFlexNetwork1) (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: Super freak athlete out of Rutgers with the highest Speed Score of the class.

4.06 – Bo Melton, WR – Rutgers

Analyst: Cody Carpentier (@CarpentierNFL) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: Free Money Melton, Will be drafted inside of Round 4 in the NFL Draft, and can be exploited in every facet of the game. Can’t wait to see him land in New York or Buffalo. This is my one late-round target at WR if the RBs I want are off the board.

4.07 – Carson Strong, QB – Nevada

Analyst: Ani Sridhar (@anisri23) (Team RosterWatch)

4.08 – Sincere McCormick, RB – UTSA

Analyst: Andy Mlyniec (@ffdataking) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: My ride or die. The first prospect this year I loved to watch and still has potential if you believe in GPS data.

4.09 – Matt Corral, QB – Ole Miss

Analyst: Nate Liss (@AnOutragedJew) (Team Underworld)

4.10 – Greg Dulcich, TE – UCLA

Analyst: Aaron Stewart (@aaronstew09) (Team Underworld)

Rationale: Back-to-back seasons averaging over 17.0 YPR and at least a 16.0-percent Target Share in each of those two seasons. RotoUnderworld is on the board at the TE position

PlayerProfiler vs Rosterwatch

Greg Dulcich Advanced Stats & Metrics Profile

4.11 – Braylon Sanders, WR – Ole Miss

Analyst: The Trashman (Team RosterWatch)

Rationale: One man’s Trash is the Trashman’s treasure.

4.12 – Danny Gray, WR – SMU

Analyst: Alex Dunlap (@AlexDunlapNFL) (Team RosterWatch)
