Fantasy Sleepers at Tight End – Targets Outside of the Top 24 in FFPC

by Seth Diewold · Draft Strategy

Do you not like investing in the tight end position? Do you simply want to wait as long as possible before drafting one? Or did you forget about the position altogether? Not to worry. Here are four tight end sleepers you can target who are being drafted outside of the top 24 TEs. They can absolutely help your FFPC fantasy team.

Colby Parkinson

The Rams lost Tyler Higbee in their playoff game against the Detroit Lions last season when Higbee went down with a torn MCL and ACL. As a result, Higbee will start the season on the PUP list. This means he will miss the first four games of the season. However, since the injury occurred so late in the season, there is no timetable for Higbee’s return.

Throw in the fact that the Rams paid Colby Parkinson a hefty 3-year, 22-million-dollar contract, with 15 million guaranteed, tells me they figured Higbee would be out for a while. Parkinson could assume Higbee’s role in the offense. This could mean upwards of 70-90 targets on a Rams team that should score right up there with the best offenses in the league. Currently, Parkinson is being drafted as the TE 29 in FFPC leagues. At his price, he’s one of my favorite tight end sleepers.

Mike Gesicki

Mike Gesicki has been largely a disappointment for us fantasy gamers. However, there may be some light in this Bengals offense. Ja’Marr Chase is expected to play in Week 1, but the ongoing contract negotiations are very unpredictable. This offense should be one of the best offenses in the league, and that could mean that Gesicki catches an unexpected number of touchdowns. At his current price tag of TE 28 in FFPC drafts, it isn’t that expensive to find out.

Greg Dulcich

Sean Payton once called him a good fit to play the “joker” role in the Broncos offense, and now it looks like Dulcich is healthy. The news out of training camp has been mostly positive as well. And Bo Nix looked great in the preseason. If Nix can elevate this offense, every Broncos skill player is currently being undervalued. Dulcich could prove to be a valuable late round tight end that provides more upside than expected. At his current price of TE 27, he is worth taking late if you need a tight end.

Daniel Bellinger

Bellinger is the cheapest starting tight end that can be had in fantasy drafts. This could come down to the simple fact that Daniel Jones is going to need a security blanket (other than Malik Nabers). Bellinger, just like every Giants pass catcher, was dealing with some of the worst quarterback play in the league last year (when Jones went down with an injury). There isn’t much to go on, but when it comes to drafting late round tight ends, sometimes it’s wise to attack the opportunity. Bellinger should have plenty in this offense. He is currently being drafted as the TE 39 off the board. It’s very possible he’s available in the last round of your fantasy draft.
