Quarterback Matthew Stafford seeking more pay has been given permission by the Los Angeles Rams to seek trade offers.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford has been paid below market value the last several seasons in LA. According to Peter Schrager, Stafford is seeking $50 million a year. Entering his age 37 season Matthew Stafford may be reaching too high for the Rams. Stafford and the Rams have stated they prefer to stay together, they just can’t agree on pay. Thus, the Rams are allowing Stafford to gauge interest from other teams to find his market value. The Rams have the advantage over negotiations, as they would expect compensation from another team. They can ask for a 1st round pick in return, all while Stafford is seeking around $50 million a year. That price tag is very stiff for a 37 year old who has previously contemplated retirement. This is a large domino to fall this offseason in an NFL that never sleeps.
Matthew Stafford finished as QB-19 in 2024 without his full arsenal of weapons for the entire season. He clearly still has the arm talent to be a high end fantasy quarterback. The question is where is he playing? Returning to LA may be the best for his fantasy outcome, as going to a new team will take some acclimating to be comfortable starting Stafford as your fantasy quarterback. Stafford has top 10 potential and we will monitor where he ends up.
