The Browns sign Carter to a 1-year deal.
The Cleveland Browns have added depth by signing DeAndre Carter. Carter offers services as a receiver and a returner.
The 10-year veteran has averaged 9.7 yards on 149 punt returns as well as averaged 23.5 yards on 133 kickoff returns. This versatility will help ensure Carter makes the team. Carter’s career high 46 receptions came with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022.
While there is no expectation that Carter will be atop the wide receiver depth chart in Cleveland, this is a good move overall for the team due to his special teams contributions. Whether he has 9 receptions like he did in 2024 or 4 the year prior, the main intrigue in Cleveland will be who is throwing the football. The top options that are expected to be available after the hypothetical Cam Ward selection at No.1 overall are currently Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss.
