The highly regarded Indianapolis Colts rookie receiver quietly posts a career best game stepping in for an injured Michael Pittman Jr.
Until week 10, Adonai Mitchell hadn’t built off of his pre NFL career momentum. He produced at 2 top college programs, shocked draft analysts with a 4.34 40-yard dash on a 6’2” 205 lb. frame and was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft.
Unfortunately his landing spot is arguably the worst in the league. A crowded wide receiver room on a run heavy team with 2 underperforming quarterbacks all have made it tough for the rookie to shine.
With Michael Pittman Jr. out in week 10, Mitchell finally earned a 93% snap share and showed out pretty well. He had a perfect 6 catches on 6 targets for 71 yards. He ended the day with 1 yard fewer than Josh Downs on 4 fewer targets. Mitchell’s mini breakout was good for a career best 13.1 ppr fantasy points, making him an intriguing stash for deep leagues and a viable hold in Dynasty.

Adonai Mitchell is one of the top fallers in PlayerProfiler’s Dynasty Deluxe lifetime value rating for the month of July.
Mitchell appeared to be a lock for a first-round selection following the NFL Combine, where he posted a nearly perfect 9.99 Relative Athletic Score with exceptional running and jumping measurements. While Mitchell didn’t necessarily excel in combine drills or interviews, no one anticipated him falling to the 20th pick of the second round. To compound matters, he landed on a team boasting a proven WR1 in Michael Pittman and a formidable running game featuring Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor.
Heading into training camp, reports indicate that Mitchell’s role as Indy’s WR2 is uncertain. Josh Downs is entrenched as the primary slot receiver, and Alec Pierce, another second-round pick, remains in the team’s plans. Despite Mitchell’s substantial dynasty value, Fantasy Managers should explore trading him for a player with a clearer path to high-end production in 2024.
The Colts have drafted Texas Wide Receiver, Adonai Mitchell, with the 33rd pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
The Colts land an athletic freak in Mitchell, who ran a blistering 4.33 40-yard dash at the NFL combine to go along with tremendous vertical and broad jump measurements. He slides in the draft to the 52nd pick, much later than the mid-first round grade most experts gave him.
Mitchell showed inconsistencies on the field at Texas, and had an interesting answer to a combine interview question earlier this offseason, where he admitted to not playing full speed on every snap. He plays with an undeniable smoothness, but has red flags from an advanced-analytics perspective.
Mitchell joining the Colts will have an immediate impact on Alec Pierce. His solid draft capital indicates he will be on the field early and often, leaving Pierce an afterthought. He’ll have an uphill battle to produce meaningful fantasy production and faces strong target competition from Josh Downs and Michael Pittman. Fantasy Managers should explore other options than this physically gifted rookie to chase upside in the later rounds of redraft leagues.
Adonai Mitchell has checked the boxes from a physical perspective at the NFL combine and offers intriguing upside at the next level.
Adonai Mitchell was the fastest Wide Receiver in his combine group, running a blistering 4.34 40-yard dash. He also measured well at 6’2″ and 205lbs, boasting an excellent combination of size and speed. To top it all off, he led his group with an 11’4″ broad jump and had a top 5 vertical at 39.5 inches.
Mitchell showed inconsistencies on the field, and had an interesting answer to a combine interview question where he admitted to not playing full speed on every snap. He plays with undeniable smoothness, but has red flags from an advanced-analytics perspective.
Mitchell has proved he’ll be a name to watch going into the NFL draft, and Fantasy Managers shouldn’t be afraid to overlook some of his flaws due to his undeniable physical gifts.
