Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce did not practice Wednesday and is currently working through the concussion protocol.
Alec Pierce hit the ground hard on a catch attempt in the end zone with seconds to go in the first half of last week’s game, a hit that left him in the league’s mandatory concussion protocol. While the team has yet to officially rule him out, it’s unlikely (yet possible) for Pierce to be cleared in time for Sunday’s game.
Pierce has become a down-field weapon for Quarterback Anthony Richardson, showcasing his speed and athleticism. In fact, Pierce currently leads the NFL in Average Target Distance and in Deep Targets. If Pierce can’t go, expect to see increased opportunities for rookie Adonai Mitchell, who runs an even faster 40. The Colts, who are a long shot for a playoff spot, will need all the offensive firepower they can muster as they face off against their divisional rivals. It’s certainly a tough break for Pierce, but Colts fans will be hoping for a speedy recovery and a quick return to action.
