Week 11 Outlook for the Tennessee Titans

Things to watch in Week 11 for Tennessee’s week 11 matchup vs the Minnesota Vikings

The Titans are now 2-7 after a road loss to the Los Angeles Chargers (6-3). Last week, the Titans managed just 289 yards against a stiff Chargers defense despite earning 19 first downs and Will Levis not turning the ball over for the first full game in 2024.  The run game was effective but seldom used, garnering only 21 carries and averaging 6.3 yards per carry.  Levis, Pollard, Tyjae all went over 40 yards and averaged 4.5 yards per carry. On a less than positive note the offensive line surrendered 7 sacks, and that will be a focal point coming into this week vs a Vikings defense that has 30 sacks in 9 games.  In the passing game, Levis was ale to keep the hot streak alive for Ridley, targeting him 9 times and connecting for 5 catches 84 yards and 2 TDs.

On defense, the Titans were not able to sack Justin Herbert on any of his 24 dropbacks, despite registering 9 pressures on the day and narrowly missing a strip sack fumble by Big Jeff (Jeffery Simmons) that was later ruled an incompletion.  Herbert was able to complete 14 passes for 164 yards and 2 TDs in one of his lower volume performances on the season.  The Chargers controlled the line of scrimmage by committing to the run in a Greg Roman special, running for 145 yards on 39 carries.  No ball carrier surpassed 55 yards and they were not effective on a per carry basis but they ESTABLISHED it, and won.  Jack Gibbens led the team in tackles recording 15 and playing all 59 snaps on the day.

It was a winnable game, but the Chargers controlled the line of scrimmage and shortened the game, methodically inching their way to victory by keeping Will Levis out of rhythm and running the ball to minimize their risks.

Sunday’s Keys To Victory.

  • 3rd Down Conversions- 3 for 9 last week, allowed 4/10 conversions
  • Offensive line protection 7 sacks allowed on 33 dropbacks (Vikings have 48 total (sacks + hits) disruptions in 2024)
  • Minimizing Aaron Jones and Justin Jefferson’s explosive plays
  • Disrupting Sam Darnold’s rhythm
  • Will Levis using the RBs as safety valves vs Flores’ exotic looks.

Fantasy Players to Watch

  • Tony Pollard and Tyjae snap counts, is this back to a 50/50 share after Tony playing about 65% of the snaps
  • Calvin Ridley ELITE usage since Deandre Hopkins trade:  39, 33, 34% target shares in last 3 games
  • Can another Titans pass catcher have relevance in a game where Levis will likely drop back 40 times?
  • TJ Hockenson is BACK 9 targets on 46% of snaps
  • Make Jordan Addison the star of this passing attack

Tennessee Titans Sign Wide Receiver Calvin Ridley Away from Division Rival
8 months ago

Former Falcons and Jaguars Wide Receiver Calvin Ridley is signing with the Tennessee Titans.

Holy Canoly! Calvin Ridley was expected to sign back with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ridley is now a Tennessee Titan signing a 4-year, $92 million deal with $50 million fully guaranteed. That is a huge number for a 29-year old player who has missed an entire season due to a gambling suspension. Ridley was drafted out of Alabama by the Atlanta Falcons in 2018, his breakout season came in 2020 when Julio Jones was injured. The following season Ridley only played 5 games due to mental health issues, and then he missed 2022 completely due to suspension. The Jacksonville Jaguars traded for Ridley after he was reinstated into the NFL. Ridley had a decent return connecting with quarterback Trevor Lawrence for 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The Tennessee Titans swooped in and picked up the top wide receiver target in free agency. New head coach Brian Callahan is loading up his offense for 2nd-year quarterback Will Levis. Signing Ridley along with running back Tony Pollard and center Lloyd Cushenberry will be a huge help for Will Levis, who had flashes of greatness in his rookie season. Look for the Titans to be much more explosive than last year’s output.

Calvin Ridley is very polarizing as a fantasy/dynasty pick. Quarterback Will Levis will have to show more consistency for Ridley to be better than his previous output. Ridley would be ranked higher if he returned with the Jaguars. Ridley’s ceiling as a Titan is a WR2. This may be a huge overpay to keep from a division rival.

Jacksonville Jaguars Plan on Keeping Top Free Agents Calvin Ridley and Josh Allen
8 months ago

Wide Receiver Calvin Ridley and Pass Rusher Josh Allen are pending free agents, whom the Jaguars want to keep in-house.

After a disappointing season, the Jacksonville Jaguars are hoping to retain their top two free agents to make their bid back into the playoffs. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley had a decent return after sitting out the 2022 season for a gambling suspension. Ridley caught 76 passes for 1016 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Jaguars risk giving up a 2nd round draft pick to the Atlanta Falcons due to trade conditions by re-signing Ridley. The risk is worth it to give quarterback Trevor Lawrence some continuity on offense.

Pass rusher Josh Allen broke the franchise record for sacks with 17.5 and ranking second in the league lead. Keeping the productive rusher should be a top priority for the Jaguars as the defense showed signs of weakness as the season progressed. Allen was one of the lone bright spots on the defensive side, keeping him will not be cheap as the Jaguars may need to apply the Franchise tag to keep Allen from hitting the market.

Calvin Ridley is 29 years old heading into the 2024 season, his connection with Lawrence should keep his fantasy value around the WR2 range. Ridley has the potential to be a WR1 as shown during his 2020 season with Atlanta. Keeping Ridley with Lawrence can help build that connection.

Calvin Ridley Limited With Toe

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley is limited with what the team is calling a “sore toe” caused by the wrong cleats.

Ridley was limited in practice on Wednesday, August 2nd but was still the first player out on the practice field. Ridley is no stranger to foot injuries, dealing with a broken foot throughout the 2020 NFL season. Ridley had a career year despite the broken foot, with career highs of 143 targets, 90 rec, 1,374 yards, 9 TDs, and 18.8 PPR points per game, the WR4 on the year.

The Jaguars believe they’ve solved the problem after switching Ridley’s cleats. For now, this is a non-story, but it’s definitely not ideal for a WR with 5 games played over the past two seasons to be missing time.
