The New York Jets have released wide receiver Corey Davis from the Reserve/Retired list.
Corey Davis stepped away from football in August but has decided to apply for reinstatement from the NFL. Although Davis is a free agent after the Jets released him from the Reserve/Retirement list, there is a chance that he may re-sign with New York. A return to the Jets would give Aaron Rodgers another receiving option to complement third-year wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Davis has shown plenty of flashes throughout his career but has battled many injuries. The only time he played a full season was back in 2018 when he played for the Titans. For his career, Davis has brought in 273 receptions for 3,879 yards and 17 touchdowns.
The veteran receiver is still 29 years old and is an intriguing option in dynasty leagues. Davis is well-rested and if given the opportunity can provide an excellent depth asset for fantasy managers. You may be able to pry him from another dynasty manager for a fourth-round rookie pick if he is still rostered.

New York Jets’ Wide Receiver Corey Davis has retired for personal reasons after six years in the NFL.
28-year-old veteran wideout Corey Davis suddenly announced his retirement from the NFL via social media earlier today. The post came after Davis had recently missed the NY Jets’ 2nd preseason game. The former top-5 pick averaged 76.8 Targets, 45.5 Receptions, and 646.5 Receiving Yards for the Titans and Jets over a productive career.
The addition of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers to New York made Corey Davis a popular last-round best-ball pick. That said, it’s pretty obvious those player shares will not be profitable in 2023. In the twelve games he played last year for the Jets, Davis earned 63 targets on 71% route participation. That was good for a 16.4% target per route rate and a 12.9% team target share. Allen Lazard will get pushed up at least a full round from his current 125 Underdog ADP. Fantasy managers should assume Lazard will now dominate snap shares in two WR sets for NYJ, making his 100 targets from last year more repeatable with Davis out of the picture.
