The Minnesota Vikings traded into the 17th pick to draft Alabama Edge Dallas Turner.
The Minnesota lost their main pass-rusher when Danielle Hunter left in free agency. With pressuring the opposing QB as a need, the Vikings traded into the 17th pick in the draft to take Alabama star Dallas Turner. At 6’3″ and 247lbs, a 4.46 second 40 time, and a 40.5 inch vertical jump, Turner is the perfect package of size, speed, and explosiveness to fit Brian Flores’ 4-3 system.
Largely viewed as the best Edge in the draft, and ranked as the 7th best player overall, the Vikings getting Turner at 17 may turn out to be a steal. As we saw with Houston in 2023, shelling out draft capital at QB and Edge could be a formula for a big turnaround. In IDP leagues it typically takes players a couple of years before they make a real fantasy impact. Turner is the rare rookie that will contribute immediately.
