Fullback Derek Watt has retired after seven seasons with the Chargers and Steelers.
The Watt Dynasty is down to one member left in the NFL. Derek Watt, younger brother to J.J. and older brother to T.J., has said his goodbyes to the NFL after seven years. “It is with great honor and gratitude that I officially announce my retirement and the end to my career…” Watt wrote in a statement on X. “A career that ended up being about so much more than just the game that I love. The 7 years with 2 great organizations, 110 career games, and lifelong friendships and memories that I’ve been fortunate enough to make have been nothing short of amazing,”.
A 6th Round Pick in 2016, Derek Watt joined the Chargers for their final year in San Diego before the move to Los Angeles. Watt spent the rest of his rookie contract in L.A. before signing a 3-year, 9.75M deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Derek was able to spend 2020-2022 playing with younger brother T.J. Watt before taking the 2023 season off from football. Best of luck to Derek Watt in his next steps!
