De'Von Achane Bio

Devon Achane is speed. He demonstrated his explosive speed as a dual sport athlete in football and track while attending Thurgood Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas. Achane earned the 2020 Texas Gatorade Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year and received offers from Alabama, Florida State, and Georgia. He committed to Texas A&M to play under head coach Jimbo Fisher. He played his first season in College Station as backup to Isaiah Spiller, earning only 43 carries, but capped the season with the Orange Bowl MVP Award after rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns. The following season (2021), Achane seized a larger portion of the backfield to the tune of 130 carries and 24 receptions. In his final season at A&M (2022), he rushed for 1,102 yards, caught 36 passes, and had over 300 yards as a kick returner. Achane was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.

Running alongside veteran back Raheem Mostert and in a Mike McDaniels-designed run scheme, Achane's speed proved to be a dangerous weapon at the NFL level, as well. On just 103 carries, he rushed for 800 yards (7.8 YPC) in his rookie season, adding 197 yards receiving and 11 total touchdowns. The Dolphins continued to the backfield in the 2024 Draft, selecting Jaylen Wright in the fourth round, but 2023 proved more than one Dolphins running back can be fantasy-relevant. Mostert (No. 4) and Achane (No. 5) both finished as top-five RBs in FPPG.
