Jadeveon Clowney signs a 2-year deal worth up to $24 million with the Carolina Panthers.
Adam Schefter reports that outside linebacker and edge rusher, Jadeveon Clowney has agreed to a 2-year deal worth up to $24 million with the Carolina Panthers. The 2014 number 1 overall pick the NFL Draft is on his 6th team in his career and 3rd team in the last 3 seasons.
The move to sign Clowney comes on the heels of an earlier offseason trade where General Manager Dan Morgan traded star pass rusher Brian Burns to the New York Giants. In return, the Panthers now have the Giants 2nd round pick at 39 overall in the 2024 NFL draft as well as the Giants 2025 5th round pick.
The move makes logical sense in attempting to bring in a defensive player, however Jadeveon Clowney isn’t near the player that Brian Burns is. At 31, Jadeveon Clowney is heading into his 11th season and doesn’t figure to be a part of the long term turnaround with which the Panthers find themselves.
