Cooper Kupp is coming back home to play for the Seattle Seahawks.
Cooper Kupp is moving on from the Los Angeles Rams to play for the Seattle Seahawks. The free agent wideout has signed a deal with the Seahawks for 3 years and $45 million.
Much will be made about what impact this has on Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Njigba was the WR-9 in 2024. He logged 100 receptions, 1,130 receiving yards, and was No.12 in targets with 137. Cooper Kupp is at the stage where he is going to need to be moved around the formation with favorability towards the slot role. This poses a problem for JSN as he was No.1 in slot snaps last season with 701.
This is also a head-scratching move as Kupp will be 32 when the 2025 season starts. From an efficiency standpoint last season, Kupp was 60th in fantasy points per target at 1.75 and 65th in expected points added at +23.5. While Matthew Stafford can support multiple alpha weapons in Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp with optimism towards Stafford supporting Nacua and Davante Adams in 2024, Sam Darnold does not inspire the same level of confidence in supporting both JSN and Cooper Kupp.
As this move is puzzling from a redundancy standpoint at the wide receiver position, it also brings questions about the stage in which the Seahawks are as far as team building towards being a winning team. Adding an aging, oft injured receiver who will be 32 is not ideal. The Rams have won the ‘sign a 32-year-old’ sweepstakes while the Seahawks are running in place.
The Rams and Seahawks are seemingly headed in different directions. While real NFL circumstances are to be noted, take advantage of any dip in JSN’s dynasty stock and best ball ADP by scooping him up anywhere you can!

Seattle Seahawks rookie WR, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, is expected to play Week 1 against the Rams, according to Pete Carroll. JSN underwent wrist surgery last month, and has seemingly made a great recovery.
JSN underwent wrist surgery just last month, but looks ready to make his NFL debut, Sunday against the Rams, according to Head Coach Pete Carroll. This is a surprisingly quick turnaround and a positive outcome for the young WR. He “hasn’t made a peep” about his wrist, said Carroll on Wednesday, and that there is no hesitation to start him on Sunday.
This is obviously great news for the Seahawks pass attack to get their first-round pick back into the mix. Hopefully, you bought the discount, thinking that he would certainly miss games, but his apparent Wolverine healing ability proved too strong for him to miss a game. This is good news for Geno Smith, going against a suspect Rams secondary on Sunday, a perfect matchup to prove that last year was not a fluke, and an opportunity to put up big fantasy numbers. This is a slight hit for DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, who obviously would have benefitted from JSN being out, but overall not a huge dip. Jake Bobo, the other rookie from this class, looks to be the odd man out despite his rise to the WR3 slot with the other reciever injuries. Look for Jaxon Smith-Njigba to make a splash in his first game out.
Seattle Seahawks rookie wideout Jaxon Smith-a John is set to have surgery for a wrist injury. The team optimistic that he will return in 3-4 weeks.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba (JSN) suffered a wrist injury in the second week of the preseason versus the Dallas Cowboys. Head Coach Pete Carroll said JSN had suffered “a slight fracture” and they are staying “optimistic with their timetable of 3-4 weeks”.
Having surgery before the season starts is usually not a great sign, especially for an electric rookie looking to make his first NFL start. If everything goes according to the timetable, JSN should be set to make his NFL debut in week 2-3. At worst, the team could hold him out until the bye (Week 5), making his debut in Cincinnati.
Given this news, JSN likely will recover with much of the season left to go. This might be a boost for Tyler Lockett, whom JSN shares a similar role. If JSN’s ADP falls, he could become a value pick for the second half of the season. He has been receiving praise for his training camp highlights, so do not expect the wrist to derail his hype train.
