Jordan Love Bio

Jordan Love

Jordan Love is the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers and hails from Bakersfield, California. He attended Liberty High School in his hometown. Love was a late blooming prospect, not starting at quarterback until the later stages of his high school career. As a result, he was only a two-star recruit in 2016, Utah State being the only Division I college to make him an offer. Love accepted, and started only a handful of games his first two seasons at Utah State. He entered the 2018 season, however, as the starting quarterback. Love then scorched the Mountain West conference, throwing for 3,567 yards, at 8.6 yards per attempt. He added 32 touchdowns and threw only six interceptions that 2018 season at 20 years old. An exodus of NFL talent at various positions from the 2018 Utah State team led to Love taking a step back the following season. He still threw for 3,402 yards in 2019, but his yards per attempt fell nearly one-and-one-half yards to 7.2. His touchdown production was also diminished (20 passing touchdowns) while his interceptions increased (17).

The Packers looked past Love's flaws and traded up in the 2020 draft to secure what they imagined would be their future franchise quarterback. They dealt a fourth-round pick to move up four spots to the No. 26 overall pick and take the 6-3 224-pound Utah State product with 10.5-inch sized hands. Green Bay was aggressive drafting Love even though he would sit behind Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers for the majority of his first three seasons as a pro.

Love saw his first game action as a Packer in 2021, his second season. After a couple of mop-up sessions earlier that season, he made his first career start at Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs. Love finished the game with 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception while completing 19 of 34 attempts. The only other extended playing time he saw in a game was in Week 18 versus the Detroit Lions, where he threw for 134 yards on 17 attempts (10 completions), a touchdown and two interceptions. He appeared in four games in the 2022 season, most notably against the Eagles, when he had 113 yards passing on only nine passing attempts.

Rodgers moved on to the Jets for the 2023 season and the Packers added pass-catching weapons Jayden Reed and Luke Musgrave in the 2023 Draft. Despite having one of the youngest set of pass game weapons in the NFL, Love was efficient, finishing with +128.2 EPA (No. 6). He Love threw for 4,159 yards (No. 7) and 32 touchdowns (No. 2) in his first full season as the starter.
