Mac Hippenhammer was a three-star recruit who joined Penn State as a member of their 2017 recruiting class. He redshirted his freshman season and struggled to find playing time over the next two seasons. He finished his Penn State career with 7 receptions for 118 yards in six career games, playing alongside notable Penn State alum like K.J. Hamler, Pat Freiermuth, Miles Sanders, Jahan Dotson, and Juwan Johnson.
2020 marked a new beginning as he had just transferred to Miami (Ohio). Unfortunately, during a shortened season, Hippenhammer only appeared in one game. In 2021, Hippenhammer would finish second on the team in receptions (48), yards (786), and touchdowns (5) behind Jack Sorenson. The following season in 2022, Hippenhammer would lead Miami (Ohio) in receptions (54), yards (769), and touchdowns (9).
