Marvin Mims was a consensus four-star prospect as a high school recruit. He was also the Texas high school state record-holder for career receiving yards (5,485) and for a single season (2,629). He committed to Oklahoma as a member of their 2020 recruiting class.
Mims immediately became the Sooners' No. 1 receiver in his first season, leading in receptions (37), yards (610), and touchdowns (9) after the team lost CeeDee Lamb to the NFL Draft. The following season, there was instability at the quarterback position as Spencer Rattler lost his starting job, but Mims again led Oklahoma in receiving yards (705). In his final college season in 2022, Mims eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark and averaged over 20.0 yards per reception en route to being named to the First-Team All-Big 12.
Mims was drafted at the end of the second round (2.32) and played limited snaps as a receiver (40.7-percent Snap Share, No. 116) in his rookie season. He was utilized on special teams, returning one kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in a losing effort Week 3.
