Super Bowl 59 belongs to the Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts.
The Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs on Super Bowl Sunday to the tune of 40-22. While the game ended up being an 18 point victory for the Eagles, the game was even more of a blowout than the scoreboard showed. Dominant would be an understatement.
Jalen Hurts, who has had many detractors on his ascension to the top of the league came away with the Super Bowl MVP award. Hurts threw for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns while also being the game’s leader in rushing with 72 yards and a tush push touchdown.
The game served as payback for the Eagles who lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 38-35. While Patrick Mahomes legacy as an all-time great quarterback takes a brief pause from the Tom Brady trajectory, Jalen Hurts ensured that he will be given proper respect as one of the game’s best players going forward.

Patrick Mahomes Leads Chiefs into Playoffs with Super Bowl Hopes
As the Kansas City Chiefs head into Wild Card Weekend with a well-earned bye after securing the #1 seed in the AFC, Patrick Mahomes is positioned for another Super Bowl run that could elevate his already legendary status. The 2024 regular season saw him throw for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, once again showcasing his ability to thrive in tight situations. Mahomes’ playoff record is a testament to his clutch gene: 15 wins, 3 losses, 46 touchdowns, and over 5,600 passing yards. With a chance to tie Joe Montana for the second-most playoff wins in NFL history, Mahomes is primed to lead the Chiefs toward their third consecutive Super Bowl title, continuing his legacy as one of the league’s most dangerous postseason quarterbacks.
Looking ahead to 2025, there’s more optimism for Mahomes and the Chiefs, especially on offense. The late-season emergence of Xavier Worthy, combined with the return of Rashee Rice from injury, could potentially make the Chiefs’ passing game more dynamic than it has been in recent years. This added firepower could help Mahomes get back into the conversation as a top-tier fantasy QB, possibly moving him back into the top 8 range after a couple of years of more scrappy, late-game heroics. However, questions surrounding the defense—especially with potential key departures—could lead to more high-scoring shootouts, putting additional pressure on Mahomes to carry the offense. While the defense might face some challenges, the offense could get back to being potent, giving Mahomes ample opportunities to showcase his playmaking ability and keep the Chiefs in Super Bowl contention, even if it means outscoring opponents in tighter, high-scoring games.

Patrick Mahomes Injury Update: Mild High-Ankle Sprain
Patrick Mahomes left the Chiefs’ 21-7 win over the Browns in the fourth quarter due to an ankle injury. Tests revealed a mild high-ankle sprain, and while Mahomes is listed as week-to-week, the team will assess him throughout the week to see if he can play in Saturday’s game against the Houston Texans. Before leaving, Mahomes had 159 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-38 passing. Despite facing heavy pressure (sacked 21 times), Mahomes remains a top fantasy QB with 3,348 passing yards and 22 touchdowns this season.
With a quick turnaround and tough matchups ahead, including a Christmas Day game, Mahomes’ ankle injury is a big concern. While the Chiefs don’t think it’s serious, it’s still something fantasy gamers should monitor closely. If Mahomes can’t go, owners may need to find backup options, as the Chiefs rely heavily on him for both their playoff hopes and fantasy points.

Patrick Mahomes wins his 3rd Superbowl in 6 years, taking home MVP honors for the 3rd time, cementing himself alongside Tom Brady and Joe Montana as the best to ever play the position.
Patrick Mahomes wins his 3rd Superbowl in 6 years, taking home MVP honors for the 3rd time, cementing himself alongside Tom Brady and Joe Montana as the best to ever play the position. In a Superbowl for the ages, like a true champion, Mahomes took his team on his back and led them on a perfect 13 play, 75 yard, game winning final drive in overtime. Mahomes capped the drive off with a 3 yard touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman.
At 28,Mahomes is 15-2 as a starter in the playoffs, throwing for 46 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions. Mahomes is now tied for third all-time, with the most Superbowl wins by a Quarterback alongside Troy Aikman and Earl Morrell. By winning his 3rd Superbowl MVP award, Mahomes moves into elite company, alongside Joe Montana for second All-time, only behind Tom Brady with 4. At this stage of his career it is hard to not put Mahomes in the conversation for GOAT at the Quarterback position.
Patrick Mahomes is aiming for GOAT status, going for his 3rd Superbowl in his first 6 years in the league.
Patrick Mahomes is aiming for GOAT status, going for his 3rd Superbowl in his first 6 years in the league. After a humiliating loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day, Mahomes and the Chiefs have since found their identity and are now playing their best football of the year. Mahomes has led the Chiefs to three big playoff wins against the best opponents the AFC had to offer in the Dolphins, Bills, and Ravens.
Mahomes is one win away from without a doubt cementing himself permanently in the GOAT conversation alongside Tom Brady and Joe Montana. At 28, Mahomes is 14-3 as a starter in the playoffs, throwing for 44 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions. This will be Mahomes’ 4th Superbowl appearance in his 6 years in the league and he has yet to miss an AFC Championship game. It will take a huge effort from the 49ers in order to prevent Mahomes from further denoting himself alongside Montana and Brady in the GOAT conversation.
